BCS Schedule 2011: Boise St. and 3 Teams That Will Get Screwed by Weak Schedule
The seasons' first BCS poll will be released on Sunday and a few teams will inevitably get screwed by their weak schedules.
Boise State, the poster child of cupcake dominance, will headline this group as always. Here are three teams that will be ranked somewhat lowly because, well, they haven't played anybody good.
No. 5 Boise State Broncos
The Broncos have moved from the WAC to the Mountain West, but their schedule will eventually cripple their championship prospects as usual.
Boise State has beaten just one ranked team—then-No. 19 Georgia in Week 1. Since then, they've been beating up the likes of Toledo, Tulsa and Colorado State. Not exactly powerhouses.
As for improving their BCS stock, that won't happen either. The Broncos won't be impressing the committee by defeating Wyoming and New Mexico.
Fair or not, the Broncos can only go down from here.
No. 7 Stanford Cardinal
Despite playing in the semi-illustrious Pac 12, the Cardinal have yet to play a ranked team.
While teams like Clemson are battling Virginia Tech and Florida State, Stanford is playing teams like Duke and Colorado.
They have undoubtedly the best quarterback prospect in the country, but that won't mean anything for Stanford come polling time.
No. 6 Oklahoma State
The Cowboys should get plenty of props for dispatching Texas A&M and Texas within a matter of weeks, but they've only played two good teams thus far.
Personally, I think OSU will make some major noise come bowl season. They still have three games against currently ranked teams, including an incredibly crucial matchup with Oklahoma to end the season. If they prevail through all of that, the Cowboys could find themselves in the BCS championship game.
Until then, OSU will be ranked behind teams with stronger schedules.
