BCS Rankings Week 8: Alabama and Others Deserving of No. 1
Despite the fact it is Week 8, the top of the college polls are more cluttered than ever. LSU is currently No. 1, but there are plenty of teams gunning and capable of taking that spot. The following three all have a legitimate claim to that spot right now.
No. 2 Alabama
Alabama's defense is frightening. The Crimson Tide are No. 1 in the nation, allowing just seven points per game. And it is not like they are doing it against weak teams.
They have beaten three ranked teams this year. Scouts have said there are as many as eight future NFL players on their defense.
While they are in second now, they can fix that themselves soon as they have the ultimate showdown with LSU in two weeks.
No. 4 Wisconsin
Wisconsin is not just beating teams they are destroying them. There closet game was a 31 point victory over a Nebraska team that is currently No. 14 and was No. 8 at the time.
I believe they are the most complete team in the nation. They are tremendous in the trenches. They can stop the run and the pass, and they can beat you with the run or the pass.
They have been the most impressive team in the country.
No. 5 Boise State
If Wisconsin is the most compete team in the country then Boise State is right behind them. They have a dynamic and efficient passing game led by one of the best QBs in the country in Kellen Moore.
The also have a very good running game, and a fantastic defense.
It is easy to write off this team because they don't play in a high profile conference, but they dominated Georgia to start the season and held them to a season low 21 points in the process.
