BCS Rankings Week 8: How Far Will Stunned Top 25 Teams Fall?
Week 7 of the college football season had some surprises in store for a few top 25 teams, and now the question they face is: how far will we far?
These teams all had high hopes, and a few were looking to get into BCS Bowls. Now that they lost, however, they could far so far that they are out of the picture.
No. 11 Michigan Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines were dealt a loss to the Michigan State Spartans this week, losing 28-14. This was the Wolverines first loss, but it was also their first real test since their epic comeback against Notre Dame.
Michigan had five cupcake games and the game against Notre Dame so far, and they were beaten by a low top-25 team. This shows that Michigan does not belong anywhere close to the top 10 or maybe even the top 20.
I see Michigan dropping to around No. 22.
No. 12 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Yellow Jackets fell to an unranked Virginia Cavaliers team this week, losing 24-21. This was not their first test, but it was still a game that they should've won.
Their schedule hasn't been as easy as some of these other teams, but it was also not challenging. The team averaged over 360 rushing yards per game and were sixth in the nation in points scored per game.
This team is going to fall, but they should still stay in the top 20 for sure. I see them falling to No. 18.
No. 16 Illinois Fighting Illini
The Illini lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes today, in a game that was considered their second real test after beating No. 22 Arizona State 17-14.
The Illini looked like a good team, but that was because of their incredibly easy schedule.
Now that they've lost, however, they look terrible and I see them falling to No. 24 since they lost to an unranked team.
