BCS Rankings 2011: Boise State and 3 BCS-Busters Ready to Wreak Havoc

Richard LangfordOct 15, 2011

This is going to be a shocking BCS Bowl season. The rankings are loaded with top teams from the top conferences, but there are plenty of teams that are ready to prove they can hang with the big dogs.

Boise State is up to its usual tricks, and the Broncos look great doing it. Last year the BCS was saved from having to include the Broncos in the championship game when Boise State fell to Nevada 34-31 in overtime.

Don't expect Boise State to make things so easy on the committee this year. We'll take a look at Boise State and two other teams that are ready to shake up the BCS next.

Boise State

1 of 3

Boise State has as complete a team as they have ever had. Everyone talks about their offense, but there defense is worthy of just as much praise.

They are 10th in the nation in points allowed. They can beat teams on the line of scrimmage. And they can beat teams with their secondary.

They held a high powered Georgia offense to a season low 21 points in the opener.

This team can play with anyone, and as they have shown in the past this team will not be afraid of playing against a power school in a high profile bowl game.

Arkansas

2 of 3

Arkansas is quietly rolling along as they destroy opponents. They had one tough loss as they lost 38-14 at Alabama, but that is the only game they have failed to score 38 points.

They obviously have the offense to score points in bunches. Just ask Texas A&M. The Razorbacks went on a scoring binge at the end of that game to complete an impressive comeback.

When this team is clicking they can play with anyone.

They also have a big end of the season showdown with LSU. Don't count the Razorbacks out of that one, and if they pull off the upset they will turn the BCS rankings upside down.

Kansas State

3 of 3

Kansas State has quietly compiled a 5-0 record. Along the way they have picked up impressive wins against Baylor, Miami and Missouri.

The toughest stretch of their schedule is ahead of them. They have upcoming back-to-back games with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

While it may be asking too much of this team to expect them to win both, they could use their solid defense and dynamic offense to pull off an upset in one of them and shake up the BCS in the process.
