Projected BCS Rankings 2011: 5 Teams Likely to Get Snubbed in First Poll

Alex CallosOct 15, 2011

The initial BCS rankings are set to be released tomorrow, with LSU and Alabama projected to be the top two in the rankings.

With 12 teams currently undefeated, they will make up the bulk of the top 10 in the initial standings.

There are, however, some one-loss teams that will likely get snubbed in the rankings but deserve to be ranked higher.

Here are five teams that are destined to be snubbed tomorrow in the first BCS rankings of 2011.

5. Texas

1 of 5

Texas may not even be ranked in the Top 25, especially with a loss to Oklahoma St. today.

The Longhorns were manhandled by Oklahoma, but other than that they have been pretty impressive so far this season.

They were dropped in the rankings 11 spots last week and are sitting at No. 22 today.

A loss to Oklahoma St. could drop a two-loss Longhorn squad out of the top 20 of the rankings, even though they have an argument to be near No. 15.

4. Texas A&M

2 of 5

The Aggies almost dropped out of the rankings completely last week, but even with two losses, they hardly deserve to be ranked lower than No. 15.

A&M lost 30-29 to Oklahoma St. and suffered a four-point defeat at the hands of Arkansas.

Those are solid losses, and a 27-point win over No. 20 Baylor today should give Texas A&M a ranking between 10 and 15.

That will probably not be the case, as a spot between 18 and 20 is more likely, whether it is fair or not.

3. Arkansas

3 of 5

The Razorbacks will likely not be in the top 10 in the first BCS rankings, but they are clearly one of the top 10 teams in the country.

Arkansas has been rather impressive so far this season, having defeated Texas A&M 42-38 and Auburn 38-14.

They were pounded by Alabama but are one of the top teams, not only in the SEC, but the country.

Even with one-loss, Arkansas deserves to be in the top 10, considering their resume.

2. Oklahoma

4 of 5

The Sooners are almost guaranteed to be ranked No. 3, barring a big upset today.

Now, being ranked No. 3 can hardly be considered a snub with Alabama and LSU directly ahead of Oklahoma.

But, the Sooners started the season as a consensus No. 1 and have done nothing to prove otherwise.

They dismantled a talented Texas team 55-17 last weekend and average 45 points per game.

Oklahoma is the most talented team in the country and should feel slightly snubbed at No. 3.

1. Wisconsin

5 of 5

The Badgers are 6-0 and have beaten every team they have played by over 30 points, including No. 14 Nebraska, but they are not likely to be in the top-five tomorrow.

Wisconsin has to feel snubbed at No. 6. They average nearly 50 points per game and put 51 up against the Nebraska defense.

Wisconsin has the most balanced offense in the nation and is almost as talented as anybody in the country.

It is only a matter of time before they crack the top three and are in contention for a national championship appearance.
