Boise State vs Colorado State: Live Score, Highlights and Analysis

Chad ScottOct 14, 2011

Boise State 63, Colorado State 13, FINAL

As No. 5 Boise State makes their official entrance into the Mountain West conference at 6 p.m. Eastern on Saturday at Colorado State, fans of the Broncos can't help but wonder if this will be the only time they will play the Rams in conference.

Currently, the Big East is looking to expand and the Broncos may be their top pick. However, the decision may be stalled as both the Big East and Boise State have reservations about the possible move.

With that being said, the Broncos have to focus on the task at hand as they travel to Fort Collins, Colo. in their first Mountain West conference game.

Boise State is the favorite to win the Mountain West this year, and they have left little doubt that they will accomplish that task as they are the only remaining undefeated team in the MWC. They come into this game 5-0, a feat they have accomplished in each of the last four seasons.

The Boise State attack will be led by none other than Heisman candidate Kellen Moore and his conglomerate of receivers. Boise State leads the MWC in average passing yards per game with 298.8. Moore will likely hit at least eight separate receivers, but his main targets will be the speedy 6'4" Geraldo Boldewijn and freshman standout Matt Miller.

This will present a problem for Colorado State as they have shown they are susceptible to the pass, allowing a season-high 313 yards in their loss to San Jose State.

Both the Broncos and the Rams will be without some key starters for this game as injuries continue to plague both teams.

For Boise State, guard Jake Broyles and cornerback Jerrell Gavins are both out for the year. Starting center Thomas Byrd is doubtful with a knee injury, and fullback Dan Paul will likely be on the bench due to a groin injury.

The Rams will be without six total starters for the game with defensive lineman Nuku Latu and offensive lineman Brandon Hayes both out with knee injuries.

So, does Colorado State have what it takes upset their first ranked team since 2002, or will Boise State treat the Rams as a minor speed bump in their quest for yet another undefeated season and BCS bowl?
