College Football Picks Against the Spread: LSU vs. Tennessee
These two SEC powerhouses are usually two of the best teams the conference has to offer, but this year the game may be very much one-sided.
The LSU Tigers are looking like one of the best teams in the country and that defense is unstoppable. Tennessee on the other hand is a struggling 3-2 and has lost its top receiver in Justin Hunter and their starting quarterback in Tyler Bray.
The Volunteers passing game did rank 11th in the league, but it's hard to expect much of a passing attack with unproven senior quarterback Matt Simms starting. That makes things even more difficult considering their running game is nonexistent, averaging less than 85 yards a game on the ground.
We all know about LSU and how dominant they have been in beating four ranked teams in six weeks. The running game averages 183 yards per contest and they average 38 points per game.
The defense is what really gets all the attention on this team, as they have 48 tackles for loss and only give up 12.5 points on average. The defense also has 13 sacks and eight interceptions. Good luck moving the ball against the Tigers, as they give up an average of only 254 total yards.
While playing in Knoxville is never an easy task and the crowd may keep them in the game for a quarter or two, LSU is a much better team on both sides of the ball. This is a Tigers team that held the Oregon Ducks to just 27 points and Mississippi State to just 52 rushing yards.
The Tigers have won four out of the last five meetings, and you can put your money where your mouth is because they will also win this game.
The road team is 4-0-2 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams, and LSU is 4-1 against the spread against teams with a winning record.
The Tigers should easily take care of the Volunteers in this game.
Pick: LSU -17
