Dez Bryant Cleared from Failed Drug Test, Relieving All His Fantasy Owners

Eric BowmanOct 14, 2011

Dez Bryant, one of the Dallas Cowboys' big-play wide receivers, has been cleared by the NFL after he failed a drug test in training camp.

According to sources of Star-Telegram, Bryant was cleared due to the technicality of not having proper identification.

"

'One has been cleared, and one is pending,' a source said. 'You have to have your driver's license with you or some type of government ID. They didn’t have their IDs. Dez has been cleared. That is my understanding, and the other [Murray] is in the process of being cleared.'

The other Cowboys player in question is rookie running back DeMarco Murray, who will need to figure this ordeal out because if the NFL doesn't clear his name, he'll be forced to attend a drug program, and he will also be one step away from a suspension.

While Murray works things out with the league, those fantasy football players who own Bryant are rejoicing with this recent news.

Bryant has already put his fantasy owners in fear because of an early-season injury, and the last thing they want is for him to possibly face a suspension. He's healthy now, and his fantasy owners are pleased all is well for Bryant right now.

More importantly, the Cowboys are ecstatic that Bryant has been cleared of this mess because they desperately need him on the field.

He's a difference maker for the Cowboys, and with the Eagles and Giants struggling, Dallas is in a great position to win the NFC East this season.

Bryant is no stranger to being in the news for the wrong reasons, but thankfully, this was nothing more than a mishap.

Although, why Bryant doesn't carry proper identification on him at all times is beyond me. Sure, the Cowboys could make sure that Bryant has everything he needs before he takes the drug test, but they shouldn't have to baby him.

That approach to this diva in the making isn't smart, but it doesn't change the fact that Bryant should've had his information on him.

It's over now, and Bryant can focus on beating the New England Patriots this weekend, as well as the rest of the competition in the 2011 regular season, because the Cowboys are going to need him to be on his A-game.
