College Football: Power Ranking All 120 FBS Teams Heading into Week 8

Another week in college football has come and gonem and things are beginning to get a lot more interesting around the nation.

This week, Michigan, Georgia Tech and Illinois all feel from the ranks of the unbeaten, but 10 teams still remain. 

Here is a look at all 120 teams around the nation and how they stack up. 

No. 120: New Mexico

Record: 0-6

Next Game: at TCU

Quick Note: Things continue to go downhill for the Lobos as they drop to 0-6 and have a game at TCU ahead of them. 

No. 119: UAB

Record: 0-6

Next Game: UCF

Quick Note: Much like New Mexico, UAB cannot catch a break and has yet to win a game. Seems like the Blazers either get their offense or defense to show up, but never both at the same time. 

No. 118: Florida Atlantic

Record: 0-6

Next Game: Middle Tennessee

Quick Note: Not scoring a single point against Western Kentucky is a low for the season. The Owls must figure out a way to put some points on the board. 

No. 117: Idaho

Record: 1-6

Next Game: Hawaii

Quick Note: The Vandals just need this nightmare of a season to end. After this past week's loss, they will get a bye week before taking on Hawaii. 

No. 116: Memphis

Record: 1-6

Next Game: at Tulane

Quick Note: After an early season win, the Tigers have now lost four straight and will head on the road to play Tulane this week. 

No. 115: Kent State

Record: 1-6

Next Game: Bowling Green

Quick Note: This past week may have been rock bottom for Kent State. They lost to Miami of Ohio 9-3 and have lost their third straight. 

No. 114: Indiana

Record: 1-6

Next Game: at Iowa

Quick Note: As if the beatdown they received from Wisconsin was not enough, Indiana gets to stay on the road and face Iowa. 

No. 113: UNLV

Record: 1-5

Next Game: Colorado State

Quick Note: 1-5 and going nowhere fast. UNLV continues to struggle on offense and defense and has a bye week to try and figure out both. 

No. 112: Colorado

Record: 1-6

Next Game: Oregon

Quick Note: The past two weeks Colorado has gotten roughed up in conference play, and that looks to be a trend that will continue as Oregon comes to town. 

No. 111: Akron

Record: 1-5

Next Game: Ohio

Quick Note: Akron is coming off of a bye week and will take on Ohio. They have now lost two straight and will struggle to keep up with the Bobcats. 

No. 110: Oregon State

Record: 1-5

Next Game: at Washington State

Quick Note: The one upside that Oregon State can look at is they are not as bad as they were earlier this season. They are starting to put some points up but need to get help from their defense. 

No. 109: Boston College

Record: 1-5

Next Game: at Virginia Tech

Quick Note: Another team wishing they could have had another bye week this week is Boston College. At 1-5, they now are heading on the road to take on the Hokies. 

No. 108: Minnesota

Record: 1-5

Next Game: Nebraska

Quick Note: Minnesota got this past week off, but they may be hoping they would have gotten this week off as they have to take on Nebraska. 

No. 107: Middle Tennessee

Record: 1-4

Next Game: at Florida Atlantic

Quick Note: After a bye week this past week, Middle Tennessee heads on the road to take on a win-less Florida Atlantic and should be able to earn their second win of the year. 

No. 106: North Texas

Record: 2-5

Next Game: UL Monroe

Quick Note: After beating Florida Atlantic, North Texas lost to UL Lafayette and may struggle with UL Monroe. 

No. 105: Central Michigan

Record: 2-5

Next Game: at Ball State

Quick Note: Not many expected the Chips to lose a home game to Eastern Michigan, but that is what happened and they must shake it off and focus on their road game against Ball State. 

No. 104: Buffalo

Record: 2-5

Next Game: Northern Illinois

Quick Note: This past week, Buffalo's offense failed to perform all game long, and they now find themselves back on the losing track with Northern Illinois coming up. 

No. 103: Tulane

Record: 2-5

Next Game: Memphis

Quick Note: The loss streak has now reached four, and if it reaches five with a loss to Memphis, things will have hit rock bottom. 

No. 102: Miami (Ohio)

Record: 2-4

Next Game: at Toledo

Quick Note: After an 0-4 start to the season, Miami of Ohio has bounced back with two straight wins, but they will have their hands full on the road against Toledo. 

No. 101: Western Kentucky

Record: 2-4

Next Game: UL Lafayette

Quick Note: Western Kentucky has found some success as of late, and it has led to two straight victories. 

No. 100: UL Monroe

Record: 2-4

Next Game: at North Texas

Quick Note: This past week, UL Monroe picked up a huge win over Troy but now needs to look for consistency and win two straight. 

No. 99: Kansas

Record: 2-4

Next Game: Kansas State

Quick Note: Two wins to start the year and then four straight losses. The one upside is the Jayhawks were a lot more competitive than expected. 

No. 98: Arizona

Record: 1-5

Next Game: UCLA

Quick Note: During the bye week, Arizona fired head coach Mike Stoops, but that is not going to change the course of this season. Things continue to get worse and worse for the Wildcats.

No. 97: Kentucky

Record: 2-4

Next Game: Jacksonville State

Quick Note: A quick 2-0 start has gone away with four straight losses, and things do not look good for Kentucky. 

No. 96: East Carolina

Record: 2-4

Next Game: at Navy

Quick Note: Seems like the Pirates have a trend going, lose two and win one, lose two and win one. They will likely start that trend again at Navy. 

No. 95: Louisiana Tech

Record: 2-4

Next Game: at Utah State

Quick Note: Louisiana Tech had this past week off and now heads on the road to play Utah State. They are coming off of a solid win and hopefully did not lose that momentum.

Quick Note: Until their offense and defense can show up on the same week, the Owls will be in trouble.

Quick Note: Right now Troy cannot get much from their offense, and the Trojans are struggling because of it.

Quick Note: Northwestern got off to a surprising 2-0 start but have dropped four straight. They are hoping they can get things fixed at home this week.

Quick Note: After getting beat up this past week by Alabama, Ole Miss gets to play a rested Arkansas team. 

No. 90: Utah State

Next Game: Louisiana Tech

Quick Note: After a promising start to the season, Utah State has dropped to 2-4 and are struggling on both sides of the ball. 

No. 89: Army

Record: 2-4

Next Game: at Vanderbilt

Quick Note: After losing to Miami of Ohio, Army enjoyed a bye week this past week and now will take on Vanderbilt. 

No. 88: Marshall

Record: 3-4

Next Game: at Houston

Quick Note: Marshall should enjoy this past week's victory because things will get ugly when they head on the road to play Houston this week. 

No. 87: Navy

Quick Note: Seems like after the Air Force game, this team has lost its confidence and have lost four straight now. 

No. 86: Louisville

Quick Note: The offensive struggles continue for Louisville as their defense played well against Cincinnati, but they could not muster enough points to earn a conference win. 

No. 85: Connecticut

Record: 3-4

Next Game: at Pitt

Quick Note: Out of nowhere, the Huskies dropped South Florida this past week and now have a bye week to prepare for the Panthers. 

No. 84: San Jose State

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Louisiana Tech

Quick Note: In a game that looked like neither Hawaii or San Jose State wanted to win, the Spartans came out on top and earned a big victory heading into the bye week. 

No. 83: Fresno State

Record: 3-4

Next Game: at Nevada

Quick Note: Fresno State picked up a good win over Utah State but is still underperforming by their standards. 

No. 82: New Mexico State

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Hawaii

Quick Note: New Mexico State has now won two straight and gets to take on the Hawaii Warriors who have turned over the ball a lot. 

No. 81: Eastern Michigan

Record: 4-3

Next Game: Western Michigan

Quick Note: This past week the Eagles got over the .500 mark with a win over Central Michigan and would turn some heads with a win over Western Michigan. 

No. 80: Colorado State

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at UTEP

Quick Note: Colorado State jumped out to a 3-1 start but has dropped two straight, and now has a road game against UTEP to get this streak stopped. 

No. 79: Duke

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Wake Forest

Quick Note: This past week Duke was brought back to reality by Florida State and could have some difficulties keeping up with Wake Forest. 

No. 78: Tulsa

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Rice

Quick Note: Tulsa has now won two straight and is starting to look better both offensively and defensively. 

No. 77: UTEP

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Colorado State

Quick Note: After a great performance this week, UTEP will need much of the same against Colorado State.

No. 76: Western Michigan

Record: 4-3

Next Game: Eastern Michigan

Quick Note: After two straight wins, Western Michigan got a dose of reality against Northern Illinois and will look to regroup against Eastern Michigan. 

No. 75: Bowling Green

Record: 3-4

Next Game: Temple

Quick Note: After a 3-1 start to the year, Bowling Green has dropped three straight, and with Temple up next, they are in danger of making it four. 

No. 74: NC State

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Virginia

Quick Note: After a much-needed bye week, NC State returns to the field and is looking to build on their win over Central Michigan. 

No. 73: Maryland

Record: 2-4

Next Game: Florida State

Quick Note: While the effort and the offense may be there, the defense is not. Maryland had a chance to end Clemson's perfect season but could not close the door. 

No. 72: Hawaii

Record: 3-3

Next Game: New Mexico State

Quick Note: This past Friday was a turnover fest for Hawaii, and they need to get that fixed before their game against New Mexico State. 

No. 71: Mississippi State

Record: 3-4

Next Game: at Kentucky

Quick Note: While the defense is playing well, the offense is routinely letting down the team and once again the Bulldogs dip below .500. 

No. 70: Air Force

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Boise State

Quick Note: When your defense is not getting the job done and you are on a two-game losing streak, the last thing you want to hear is that you are going on the road to play Boise State. 

No. 69: Washington State

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Oregon State

Quick Note: After being handled by Stanford, Washington State will play both of the Oregon schools and a split would be a success. 

No. 68: Vanderbilt

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Army

Quick Note: This has been a tale of two streaks for Vanderbilt. They started the season 3-0 and have lost three straight to drop to 3-3. The major reason has been the start of conference play. 

No. 67: UCLA

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Arizona

Quick Note: UCLA has been a hot and cold team and has yet to find a way to put two wins in a row together. They are coming off a bye week, and this is a great chance to take out a confused Arizona team. 

No. 66: Nevada

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Fresno State

Quick Note: Since a rough start to the season, both the offense and defense have picked it up, and it has led to two straight wins. 

No. 65: Cal

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Utah

Quick Note: 3-0 was quickly turned to 3-3 and Cal looked defeated from the start against USC this past week. If they are going to get things turned around, now would be the time as Utah hasn't won in conference yet. 

No. 64: Iowa State

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Texas A&M

Quick Note: Iowa State continues to fall apart as they have lost three straight and has to take on Texas A&M this week. 

No. 63: Purdue

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Illinois

Quick Note: After a tough loss at Happy Valley, Purdue now has to play Illinois and then a Michigan team coming off of a bye week. 

No. 62: UCF

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at UAB

Quick Note: After a loss to SMU, UCF does not have time to feel bad for themselves as they have a short week and play on Thursday night. 

No. 61: Pittsburgh

Record: 3-4

Next Game: Connecticut

Quick Note: After a great win over South Florida, Pittsburgh has lost two straight and continues to look inconsistent. 

No. 60: Missouri

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Oklahoma State

Quick Note: After two straight losses, Missouri took out their frustrations on Iowa State but will have all they can handle against Oklahoma State. 

No. 59: Northern Illinois

Record: 4-3

Next Game: at Buffalo

Quick Note: The past two weeks have seen the Northern Illinois offense catch fire, and Buffalo is not a team that will put it out. 

No. 58: Miami

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Georgia Tech

Quick Note: The up-and-down trend for Miami continued this week as the Hurricanes defeated the Tar Heels. While the win was another up, expect another down as they head on the road to Georgia Tech next week. 

No. 57: Arkansas State

Record: 4-2

Next Game: FIU

Quick Note: Arkansas State is on a three-game win streak and was given a bye week to get healthy. Their game against FIU should be a good matchup. 

No. 56: Ball State

Record: 4-3

Next Game: Central Michigan

Quick Note: Ball State brought a two-game slide to an end this week with a win over Ohio. They should be able to dominate the Chips and go to 5-3. 

No. 55: Utah

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Cal

Quick Note: Once again, the Utes play well out of conference and earn their third victory. With the out-of-conference schedule behind them, they must find a way to win in the Pac-12. 

No. 54: Ohio

Record: 4-3

Next Game: at Akron 

Quick Note: Based on the start of the season, Ohio is not happy to find themselves at 4-3 and has to find a way to get better as they have lost two straight. 

No. 53: Tennessee

Record: 3-3

Next Game: at Alabama

Quick Note: As if playing LSU at home wasn't bad enough, the Vols now have to head on the road to take on the Tide. 

No. 52: Wyoming

Record: 4-2

Next Game: at San Diego State

Quick Note: This past week, Wyoming had their way with UNLV and brought their losing streak to an end. They will now get two weeks to prepare for the Aztecs. 

No. 51: UL Lafayette

Record: 6-1

Next Game: at Western Kentucky

Quick Note: A Week 1 loss is behind this team as they have rattled off six straight wins, and they should be able to make it seven straight this week. 

No. 50: Syracuse

Record: 4-3

Next Game: West Virginia

Quick Note: Syracuse has done an outstanding job of winning close games this year but will not have the offense to keep up with West Virginia. 

No. 49: Florida State

Record: 3-3

Next Game: Maryland

Quick Note: After losing three straight games, the Seminoles finally broke that streak with a win over Duke but should not overlook a Maryland team that gave Clemson trouble. 

No. 48: Toledo

Record: 4-2

Next Game: Miami of Ohio

Quick Note: This past week was a solid effort by both the offense and defense, and Toledo beat Bowling Green. The win gave the Rockets two straight, and they should have no problem making it three straight this week. 

No. 47: San Diego State

Record: 4-2

Next Game: Wyoming

Quick Note: After two straight losses, San Diego State went on the road and picked up a huge win over Air Force. They will now get a bye week to prepare for Wyoming in a couple of weeks. 

No. 46: FIU

Record: 4-2 

Next Game: Arkansas State

Quick Note: FIU is coming into a game they should take advantage of. They are fresh off a bye week and catching Arkansas State on a short week.

No. 45: North Carolina

Record: 5-2

Next Game: at Clemson

Quick Note: With the schedule starting to pick up, it appears that North Carolina is about to fall off the radar, and it started with a loss to Miami this week. 

No. 44: South Florida

Record: 4-2

Next Game: Cincinnati

Quick Note: After getting into conference play, South Florida has dropped two straight and looks like a completely different team from earlier this year. 

No. 43: Ohio State

Record: 4-3

Next Game: Wisconsin

Quick Note: On the road and facing an undefeated Illinois team, Ohio State came up with a great effort. It will take so much more to stay with Wisconsin in two weeks. 

No. 42: Florida

Record: 4-3

Next Game: Georgia

Quick Note: The schedule has not been kind to the Gators as games against Alabama, LSU and Auburn have led to three straight losses. Hopefully an extra week will help them with preparing for Georgia. 

No. 41: Virginia

Record: 4-2

Next Game: NC State

Quick Note: One week after their huge win over Georgia Tech, Virginia will take on a NC State team that they should be able to defeat. 

No. 40: Iowa

Record: 4-2

Next Game: Indiana

Quick Note: Very quietly the Iowa Hawkeyes have moved to 4-2 and have Indiana this week, a team they should beat with ease. 

No. 39: TCU

Record: 4-2

Next Game: New Mexico

Quick Note: After a loss to SMU a couple of weeks ago, TCU will look to start another home winning streak starting with New Mexico. 

No. 38: Texas Tech

Record: 4-2

Next Game: at Oklahoma

Quick Note: Many expected the Red Raiders to have their way with Kansas State at home, but they ended up losing by one score and now have to head on the road to play the Sooners.

No. 37: Temple

Record: 5-2

Next Game: at Bowling Green

Quick Note: Temple continues to have a good season so far this year. After an impressive win over Buffalo, they will need the same kind of effort to beat Bowling Green on the road. 

No. 36: BYU

Record: 5-2

Next Game: Idaho State

Quick Note: BYU has done a great job of getting things turned around after their embarrassing loss to Utah. They have responded with four straight and will make it five this week. 

No. 35: Cincinnati

Record: 5-1

Next Game: at South Florida

Quick Note: The Cincinnati defense has continued to look good as the Bearcats earn themselves a conference win and set themselves up for a big game against South Florida. 

No. 34: Rutgers

Record: 5-1

Next Game: at Louisville

Quick Note: Rutgers continues to surprise people as they have rattled off four straight wins but will be challenged with a road game this Friday against Louisville. 

No. 33: Wake Forest

Record: 4-2

Next Game: at Duke

Quick Note: After beating Florida State, Wake Forest was brought back down to earth by Virginia Tech. Look for them to get right back to winning when they play Duke. 

No. 32: Southern Miss

Record: 5-1

Next Game: SMU

Quick Note: Up next on the schedule is SMU, and both of these teams come into this game at 5-1 and something to prove. 

No. 31: Texas

Record: 4-2 

Next Game: Kansas

Quick Note: Back-to-back games against the Oklahoma schools have resulted in two straight losses for the Longhorns. While a game against Kansas may sound good, the Jayhawks just gave the Sooners a battle last week. 

No. 30: Baylor

Record: 4-2

Next Game: at Oklahoma State

Quick Note: Another impressive game for Robert Griffin but another unimpressive performance by the Baylor defense. They must get things turned around defensively with Oklahoma State up next. 

No. 29: SMU

Record: 5-1

Next Game: at Southern Miss

Quick Note: SMU continues to surprise people and have won five straight, which includes a road win against TCU. 

No. 28: USC

Record: 5-1

Next Game: at Notre Dame

Quick Note: After an impressive win over Cal on Thursday night, USC heads on the road to South Bend and hopes to avenge last year's home loss to the Irish. 

No. 27: Notre Dame

Record: 4-2

Next Game: USC

Quick Note: This past week Notre Dame was on a bye and had extra time to prepare for a USC team that will be hungry to avenge last year's home loss to the Irish. 

No. 26: Penn State

Record: 6-1

Next Game: at Northwestern

Quick Note: Very quietly, Penn State keeps on winning and took down Purdue this past week at home. A win against Northwestern on the road will push them to 7-1 and should garner them some attention. 

No. 25: Arizona State

Record: 5-2

Next Game: Colorado

Quick Note: While it appears the Sun Devils have the inside track to win the Pac-12 South, they looked outmatched by an Oregon team that was missing key pieces to the offense. 

No. 24: Michigan

Record: 6-1

Next Game: Purdue

Quick Note: After heading on the road for their first true test, Michigan may be starting to trend out of contention like they did last year. They will have two weeks to get things turned around for their game against Purdue. 

No. 23: Georgia

Record: 5-2

Next Game: Florida

Quick Note: Don't look now but after a 0-2 start, the Bulldogs have rebounded with five straight and will have two weeks to prepare for the Gators. 

No. 22: Illinois

Record: 6-1

Next Game: at Purdue

Quick Note: The undefeated season came to an end this past week against Ohio State. Illinois needs to put it behind them and make sure they are ready for Purdue, a game they should win. 

No. 21: Washington

Record: 5-1

Next Game: at Stanford

Quick Note: After an extremely impressive win over Colorado, the Huskies have appeared to hit their stride at the perfect time as they are going to take on Stanford. 

No. 20: Houston

Record: 6-0

Next Game: Marshall

Quick Note: Probably the most unknown undefeated team in the nation is Houston. Behind Case Keenum, the offense keeps on clicking, and they look tough to outscore. 

No. 19: Georgia Tech

Record: 6-1

Next Game: at Miami

Quick Note: Another team to have their undefeated aspirations come to an end is Georgia Tech. Over the past two weeks, the offense has been slowed down, and they need to get things fixed because they head on the road to play Miami this week. 

No. 18: Auburn

Record: 5-2

Next Game: at LSU

Quick Note: After losing at Arkansas, Auburn rebounded with a home victory over Florida but will struggle to keep things close against LSU. 

No. 17: Texas A&M

Record: 4-2

Next Game: at Iowa State

Quick Note: One thing that has to make the Aggies happy is they got a lead against a great offense and kept it. Maybe the Baylor game will serve as a turning point for Texas A&M.

No. 16: Virginia Tech

Record: 6-1

Next Game: Boston College

Quick Note: After losing to Clemson at home, Virginia Tech has posted back-to-back wins and will take on an underperforming Boston College squad. 

No. 15: Michigan State

Record: 5-1

Next Game: Wisconsin

Quick Note: After earning their fourth straight win over Michigan, the Spartans must get ready because they will need their best effort when Wisconsin comes to town this week. 

No. 14: South Carolina

Record: 6-1

Next Game: at Tennessee

Quick Note: In their first week without Stephen Garcia on the team, the Gamecocks earned a conference win but will need to use the bye week to improve the offensive attack that only produced 14 points. 

No. 13: Kansas State

Record: 6-0

Quick Note: The Kansas State Wildcats just continue to surprise as they pulled off a great road win over Texas Tech and now stay on the road to play the Jayhawks.

No. 12: Nebraska

Quick Note: After getting a week to rest after their come-from-behind win over Ohio State, Nebraska gets another bye week as they take on Minnesota. 

No. 11: West Virginia

Next Game: at Syracuse

Quick Note: West Virginia enjoyed a bye week this week and will get back to conference play against Syracuse. If they keep playing as well as they have, nobody in the Big East will be able to control them. 

No. 10: Arkansas

Quick Note: With back-to-back wins over Texas A&M and Auburn, Arkansas got a week off this past week and should be able to take care of Ole Miss this week. 

No. 9: Oregon

Next Game: at Colorado

Quick Note: This past week, Oregon did not appear to miss LaMichael James or even Darron Thomas in the second half. The reality is they will need both in a couple of weeks but not against Colorado.

Quick Note: For the rest of the year, Boise State faces the dilemma of only being noticed if their opponent keeps their game close or beats them. Not a good spot to be in. 

No. 7: Stanford

Quick Note: With the first of the season behind them, the competition picks up as the Cardinal has to face Washington, USC, Oregon and Notre Dame in the second half of the year. 

No. 6: Clemson

Quick Note: After looking so impressive for a month now, Clemson had an off week against Maryland and still found a way to win. 

No. 5: Wisconsin

Next Game: at Michigan State

Quick Note: Once again Wisconsin flexed its muscles against Indiana and head on the road to take on Michigan State this week, a team they lost to last year. 

No. 4: Oklahoma State

Record: 6-0

Next Game: at Missouri

Quick Note: For the first time in a long time, Oklahoma State has posted back-to-back wins over Texas and looks like a team focused on going undefeated entering the Oklahoma game at the end of the year. 

No. 3: Oklahoma

Next Game: Texas Tech

Quick Note: While this past week's game against Kansas was closer then expected, the Sooners remain unbeaten and will get to play Texas Tech at home. 

No. 2: Alabama

Record: 7-0

Next Game: Tennessee

Quick Note: A road game against Ole Miss looked to easy for the Tide as they had their way with the Rebels. A home game against the Vols could be much of the same.

Next Game: Auburn

Quick Note: LSU continued to look dominate in their win over Tennessee and now return home to play Auburn. The Tigers must make sure they do not look past Auburn to their next game against Alabama.
