Boise State Not Yet Ready to Commit to the Big East: 3 Schools Resist Them
The latest news out of the Big East happened late Wednesday night with another update from Tom Luicci of the Star Ledger. According to his latest report, there is some resistance to the idea of adding the Boise State Broncos to the troubled conference.
Louisville, Cincinnati and South Florida are listed in the report as three schools who are not sure if they want the Broncos to come and play in their Big East sandbox. I won't speculate about the reasons they might have, but with the automatic qualifying bid on the line, they might want to warm up to the idea.
Not only that, but the report also says that Boise State is unwilling to commit to the Big East until the six remaining football schools guarantee the Broncos that they will also commit.
I really don't think that is too much to ask, do you?
It sounds to me that Boise State President Kustra and all those involved at BSU are being very wise about all of this. The same can't be said about the Big East schools, however.
When I read the latest update, I couldn't help but chuckle. The three teams that are reported as perhaps resisting the Broncos entry are three schools that should know better.
Weren't all these schools members of Conference USA not too long ago? Hmm...interesting. It's okay for them to get their chance, but the moment they get the opportunity to help another in their former situation, they balk.
How do you spell hypocrite anyway?
It would be very ironic if these three teams who currently have an issue with adding the Broncos find themselves in a conference with no auto bid into the big dance.
Why would it be ironic? Because the conference(s) that would replace them would probably be a merger of some type between the Mountain West, including the Broncos and the former conference home of those same three teams—Conference USA.
