David Krejci Injury: Boston Bruins Center Day-to-Day, Tyler Seguin Replaces Him

Nicholas GossOct 12, 2011

The fear of Boston Bruins center David Krejci being sidelined for a long time was put to rest today, as the team announced their top line center has a core injury, reports the Boston Globe.

Krejci will not play Wednesday night on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes, and his status for Saturday night's game in Chicago against the Blackhawks is uncertain.

In Krejci's place at center on the top line, Bruins sophomore star Tyler Seguin will get a chance to skate with Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic on the first line.

Seguin's natural position is center, which he has played for most of his hockey life. With the Bruins strong depth at center, Seguin has been mostly a winger with Boston.

“He seemed a little more comfortable,” Julien said of Seguin in the middle. “But not to the point where he could surpass our other guys that are there at right now. We certainly don’t want to make him a third- or fourth-line centerman. We need him to play more on those top lines. It was a situation where he seemed a little bit more comfortable. It’s been his position his whole career.”

The Globe has also reported that Jordan Caron, who has been a healthy scratch for the last two games of the 2011-12 NHL season, will be active against the Hurricanes and will play on the third line.

Caron is a physical forward who is also a good scorer. He will be a good addition to the third line, which will likely include center and alternate captain Chris Kelly, and Benoit Pouliot.
