Didier Drogba: Setting the Record Straight?

TheChelseaBlog.orgDec 4, 2008

Didier Drogba’s time at Chelsea seems to be lurching from one disaster to another these days. In fact, from the minute Mourinho left, he just hasn’t been the same player really.

Under Avram Grant’s management, we saw a return to the diving, petulant, temperamental sulker, who did himself no favours at all when he topped off a much less impressive season with a red card in the Champions League final.

And now, even with Luiz Felipe Scolari in charge, we’ve already had his first suspension of the season, following his coin throwing incident, rumours of strong words from the Chelsea boss when the Ivorian refused to acknowledge traveling supporters, not to mention ‘that meeting’ he was alleged to have had with Inter Milan.

Add to all that the fact he’s spent most of the season out injured, losing any previous guarantee of first-place to Nicolas Anelka, and no-one would be surprised to see him storm out of the Stamford Bridge exit come January.

However, his agent Thierno Seydi has decided it’s time to set the record straight saying, “Officially, and I say this with the utmost firmness, Didier has never met up with anyone from Inter. It’s disrespectful to say this.

"His priority is to give his all for Chelsea. He is in that mindset and he’s not unhappy at all.  His transfer therefore is not at all on the menu. Despite anything people might say or read, there’s nothing there.”

Whilst on any rivalry for the slot up front, Seydi says, “On the contrary, he is very happy for Nico.  He’s not jealous at all. He appreciates him a lot and really likes playing with him in attack.  Didier simply needs a bit of time to come back. He has never been injured like this in his career.”

So that’s that then apparently, although somehow I doubt it.
