Auburn Football: Overrated Tigers Will Lose to Injured Florida Gators
While the Auburn Tigers are the defending national champions, the realization of how important Cam Newton was to the team is showing very clearly this season.
Judging from the lack of real offensive skill players, as well as a weak defense, the Tigers’ rank of No. 24 in the nation is judged more on what they did last year than who they beat this year.
Now Auburn will take on a Florida Gators team that is injured at key positions, but the overconfidence of Auburn will cost it again.
Florida Gators coach Will Muschamp told ESPN about his starting QB for Saturday’s game against the Auburn Tigers:
"They both are going to practice through the week. Based on the injury report I got this morning, Jeff [Driskel] should practice today. How limited he will be, I do not know that. But those guys will work with Jacoby [Brissett] as being the starter at this point and we'll work through the week and progress to see who practices the best.
"
Even with the fact that the Gators don’t know who their starting quarterback will be, I’m still picking them to beat down the Auburn Tigers in Auburn’s house.
Cam Newton was all the Tigers had last season, and without him putting the team on his back, Auburn has been the most overrated team in the nation.
If you took Auburn's roster and put it on any other team, the squad would be nowhere near the Top 25 of the AP rankings.
Don’t worry though, Auburn fans—if you do sneak out a victory against the Florida Gators, LSU gets to hand you a beating the following week. So either way, Auburn gets exposed for the fraud that it is.
