BCS Rankings 2011: 4 Rising Teams to Watch in the First BCS Poll

Randy ChambersOct 12, 2011

Every week during college football season, there are debates about the teams in the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Polls.

Fans always disagree with the teams and their rankings, and usually the only ones that agree are the fans that have a team ranked high in the polls.

The BCS rankings will be released for the first time this weekend, and it is guaranteed to cause heated debates between fans. It's just another season of college football.

Here are a few teams that will get a ton of love when the BCS Poll is released.

Clemson Tigers

1 of 4

The Clemson Tigers are one of the biggest surprises in college football this year, going from unranked to No. 8 in the AP Poll in a matter of weeks.

The Tigers are one of the most exciting teams in the country and have more explosive players on offense than any other team.

But, they could still be ranked higher because they beat three ranked teams in a row. Some might argue that it's not that impressive because all of those ranked teams are now struggling. But, there are teams that still haven't even played a ranked team yet.

Don't be surprised if the BCS likes this team more than Stanford and maybe even Boise State.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

2 of 4

Another explosive offensive team, Oklahoma State will benefit in the BCS because of its conference and schedule.

The Cowboys play the Longhorns this weekend, and if they win, they would have beaten two solid ranked teams this year.

That may not be enough to move them up just yet, but with the schedule they play, it's only a matter of time before they could be a top-two team in the country.

After Texas, Oklahoma State has to play Missouri, Baylor, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Oklahoma.

Right now everybody is talking about Alabama, Oklahoma and LSU, but if this Oklahoma State team runs the table, it'll be the one in the National Championship.

Arkansas Razorbacks

3 of 4

The Arkansas Razorbacks are just barely in the Top 10 in the AP Poll right now, and they should remain there or even move up in the BCS standings.

The Razorbacks have solid back-to-back victories over Texas A&M and Auburn this year.

What about the embarrassment they suffered by Alabama? Well, the BCS doesn't care about the margin of victory, so Arkansas should be all right.

With teams like South Carolina and LSU still on the schedule, this is another team that could be on the rise.

Kansas State Wildcats

4 of 4

Who would have ever thought that Kansas State would be 5-0 right now and ranked No.17 in the AP Poll?

I know I didn't.

The Wildcats may not be a sexy team, and they may struggle throwing the ball, but they average 208 rushing yards and play great defense. They've already beaten three good teams in Miami, Baylor and Missouri.

Kansas State could move up in the first BCS rankings, but if it doesn't, it still has Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas on the schedule to prove it's for real.
