2011 MLB Playoffs: Texas Rangers Will Take Huge 3-0 ALCS Lead Tonight
The Texas Rangers are heading to Detroit to take on the Tigers with a 2-0 lead in the ALCS, and they are going to make it 3-0 tonight.
Texas is going to send Colby Lewis to the mound and the man is undefeated in his postseason career thus far. He won Game 3 of the ALDS this year against the Tampa Bay Rays and went 3-0 in the 2010 postseason with two huge wins over the Yankees in the ALCS.
Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com reported that Lewis does not do anything special in the postseason. He simply grinds out solid wins.
"I try to treat it like a normal start and don't change things," Lewis said. "My routine is the same. If I stay even-keeled and play to my strengths, everything will be all right."
Although Lewis has been dealing with a hip injury, he got healthy in time for the playoffs and he won’t lose tonight’s game against the Tigers.
Lewis also knows the defense has his back in the big ballpark.
"It helps," Lewis said. "It’s not Yankee Stadium with the short porch in right. It’s a bigger stadium. Our outfield is extremely fast. I think it serves us well. We have guys with a lot of power and it doesn’t matter what park we’re in."
The Rangers took the life out of the Tigers on Monday in Game 2 when Nelson Cruz hit the first walk-off grand slam in Major League history. The team won 7-3, and it was a huge momentum boost for this Texas team.
After that win, I see no way in which they could lose to the Tigers. The Rangers should roll right through them and into the World Series.
