College Football Rankings 2011: Who Got Screwed in the Week 7 Polls

Johnathan CaceOct 10, 2011

As is customary, certain teams got screwed over in the AP and USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Polls.

For some teams, this is the first week that they have not been given their fair share of the votes, while others have been dealing with these problems all year long.

Here are some of the teams that made that list.

Boise State

1 of 5

There is not much of a numerical discrepancy between sixth, fifth and fourth, but there definitely is when it comes to the BCS rankings.

Boise may not have played the most daunting schedule but the fact that they got jumped by Wisconsin, after beating a mediocre Nebraska, is cause for concern for Bronco fans.

There are not many other games that they will play against ranked opponents, except possibly TCU.

In order for this team to get into the national championship, they need some help ahead of them as well as the help of the voters. So far they aren’t getting either.

Arkansas

2 of 5

The last time I checked, beating the No. 15 team in the country should move you up in the rankings. Somehow Arkansas only moved up one spot in the Coaches’ Poll and didn’t move at all in the AP Poll.

What?

No. 7 Stanford doesn’t have a ranked win. Neither does No. 9 Oregon and they have a loss, so it’s not like Arkansas shouldn't have jumped them.

The Hogs just got flat out screwed by voters this week.

Florida

3 of 5

The Gators may not have beaten anyone of note but only losing to the top two teams in the country should keep you in the Top 25 over a team like Texas A&M who also has two losses to lesser opponents.

Considering how weak and unproven the bottom of the Top 25 is, keeping Florida in the rankings should have been a no brainer but they were the next team out in both major polls.

Arizona State

4 of 5

No one is giving the Sun Devils credit for wins over USC and Missouri even though both teams were ranked when Arizona State beat them.

Yes, they lost to Illinois, but it was a three point loss on the road and the Illini are 16th in the country and undefeated. It’s time to give credit where it’s due.

West Virginia

5 of 5

Even though Oregon played LSU to a closer score, West Virginia had a better performance against the Tigers. Neither WVU nor Oregon have played a ranked opponent other than LSU and just because of preseason biases, the Ducks are ranked 9th, compared to the Mountaineers at 13 in the AP and 16th in the Coaches’ Poll.

They have no problem ranking teams like Michigan and Georgia Tech really high for not beating anyone, but lose a game to the best team in the country and you drop that far? Come on, voters.
