Brandon Jacobs Injury: Updates on Giants Star's Week 6 Status and Fantasy Value
Whether Brandon Jacobs is in the game or not isn't going to help the Giants' offensive line figure out how to block.
For the first time in a really, really long time, the Giants are incapable of running the football.
Through the first five games, they are the league's sixth-worst rushing attack. It has gotten so bad that quarterback Eli Manning threw for a career-high 420 yards against the Seahawks in Sunday's stunning loss.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Maybe giving Jacobs the ball more is the answer. Although he's only averaging 3.1 yards per carry on the season with limited touches, he is the type of back that gets better the more he is used.
Unfortunately, he was inactive for Week 5 and is struggling to get back on the field.
UPDATE: Sunday, October 16 at 11:49 a.m. EDT
As expected, the New York Giants have declared Brandon Jacobs inactive for their contest with the Buffalo Bills, according to Rotoworld's Staff.
UPDATE: Friday, October 14 at 2:21 p.m. EDT
Mike Garafolo of the New Jersey Star-Ledger is reporting that Brandon Jacobs will miss this week's upcoming game with a knee injury.
This shouldn't be much of a surprise after missing practice all week. Ahmad Bradshaw now has a ton of fantasy value against a poor Buffalo Bills defense.
UPDATE: Thursday, October 13 at 12:45 p.m. EDT
There continues to be no sign of Brandon Jacobs on the Giants practice field.
ESPN New York writer Ohm Youngmisuk took an early head count of the injured Giants and Jacobs was one of several missing:
This isn't surprising.
The Giants have been ultra conservative with their injured players so far this season and Jacobs is no different despite their inability to run the football.
Don't be surprised if the Giants rule him out sooner rather than later. They'll likely plan on bringing him back after the bye week.
UPDATE: Wednesday, October 12 at 2 p.m. EDT
The Giants were hoping to get Jacobs back on the practice field this week but he didn't get off to a good start. According to Giants beat writer Ralph Vacchiano of the The Daily News:
This isn't good news for a team that cannot run the football.
Jacobs hasn't played or practice in almost ten days.
With the Giants heading for a bye after this week's matchup with the Bills it is very possible that he misses his second straight game.
If he's not back on the field tomorrow a Week 8 return is the most likely scenario.
Ahmad Bradshaw will continue to be the workhorse for the Giants' ugly ground game.
INITIAL UPDATE
Jacobs was apparently looking forward to more touches before being downgraded to doubtful and eventually out of the Seattle game.
The Giants will host the surprisingly tough Buffalo Bills in Week 6, and we should see much of the same for Jacobs.
The Giants are often very cautious with their players, and it would be surprising to see him in the lineup if he were not any better than 85-to-90-percent.
His mild MCL sprain will be tested in practice, and his status will obviously be monitored.
He was turning into a valuable fantasy sleeper player, as he found the endzone in three straight games prior to the injury.
But New York's offensive line is a mess. At one point yesterday, they changed centers on three consecutive plays trying to find the best combination of linemen. And right guard Chris Snee, a typical Pro Bowler, played arguably his worst game in a number of seasons.
They've barely eclipsed the 100-yard barrier twice this season in five games. It just so happens that the teams they did it against are two of the league's worst: St. Louis and Philadelphia.
Maybe Jacobs is what the Giants need. After all, what they're doing right now certainly isn't working.
Watch Jacobs throughout the week, and we'll update his status when more is known. If he gets back on the field this week, he will be a player worth giving a chance.
