Patriots vs. Jets: Tom Brady, BenJarvus Green-Ellis Dominant in 30-21 Win

Tony SantorsaOct 9, 2011

Tom Brady didn't care what the New York Jets had to say about him prior to Sunday's game, and now he definitely doesn't care what they say now after New England's 30-21 victory.

Brady completed 24 of his 33 passes for 321 yards while leading New England to its 13th straight game scoring 30 or more points—Brady also added a touchdown while being intercepted once.

Not only was New England's passing game stellar, the team's ground attack beat up on the fourth-worst run defense. BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for a season-high 136 yards on an incredible 27 carries while scoring two touchdowns on the ground.

New England's questionable defense held the Jets to only 255 total yards of offense.

Mark Sanchez completed 16 of his 26 passes for only 166 yards, but did find a way to throw two touchdowns to Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley.

New York's running wasn't as bad as the team's passing attack, but it wasn't enough to leave New England with a key divisional victory.

At times, Shonn Greene looked to be on the verge of breaking off a long touchdown run, but scored only one touchdown on 21 carries for 83 yards. LaDainian Tomlinson also chipped in for 13 yards on only two carries.

This was a statement game for New England on multiple levels: Their defense isn't as bad as many thought and that they're still an elite member in the AFC East.

New England improved to 4-1 on the season and is tied with the Buffalo Bills for first place while the Jets fall to an embarrassing 2-3, which is good enough for third in the AFC East.
