BCS Rankings Predictions: Nebraska and 3 Teams That Won't Last in Top 25
Six weeks into the college season and the top 25 is still littered with vile pretenders. There is still plenty of time for these teams to show their true colors, and they will do just that.
Sooner or later, these overvalued teams will find themselves where they belong: out of the top 25.
For now, they remain. That is alright. While they are unjustly keeping worthy teams out of the top 25, they give us an easy target to rip on. Like I will do in this slideshow.
Nebraska
1 of 3Nebraska's defense is awful. They are 68th in the nation in points allowed. Yet they are 5-1 and find themselves ranked No. 14 in the Week 6 polls.
This is largely due to their schedule and a fierce home field advantage.
They are coming off of an unimpressive 34-27 victory at home over a reeling Ohio State team. Their best victory is a 51-38 victory over Washington that saw them benefit from a couple of questionable calls. That game was also at home.
Put them on the road, and this team looks even worse. They were absolutely destroyed by Wisconsin, and their true colors shone through in that one.
Virginia Tech
2 of 3Virginia Tech is not particularly good at anything. Well, that is not entirely true. They proven to be proficient at beating teams that are barely worthy of playing Division 1 football.
Virginia Tech started off 4-0 beating up on these teams. They were then thoroughly exposed by Clemson as they got drubbed 23-3.
They followed that up with a comeback 38-35 victory against a Miami team that likes to give away games.
Enjoy your top 25 ranking, Virginia Tech. It won't last.
Texas
3 of 3Texas started off the season with an impressive 4-0 record. However, while the record was impressive, none of the wins were particularly inspiring.
That led them to a big showdown with Oklahoma this week. Texas was exposed for the farce they are.
Oklahoma dismantled Texas 55-17. This young Texas team had no answers for anything Oklahoma tried to do.
This is a young and promising team with a bright future. And that is good for them because their present is not promising.
