USA Today College Football Poll 2011: 5 Teams That Got Screwed in the Rankings
The latest USA Today college football rankings have been released without much movement at all.
The Top 9 teams all remained the same.
The biggest drop in the poll is Texas who plummeted from No. 10 to No. 21 after being dismantled by Oklahoma.
While some teams, such as Penn State, Baylor and Houston were fortunate enough to jump into the rankings, some teams did not get the recognition they deserve in the latest poll.
Here are five teams who got screwed in this weeks USA Today poll.
Texas
1 of 5While the Texas Longhorns are clearly not a top ten team, particularly after the way Oklahoma handled them, dropping the Longhorns from 10 all the way down to 21 seems a bit harsh.
Texas is 4-1 with their lone loss coming to the best team in the country.
They have to take on Oklahoma State next, and could be dropping out of the rankings if they do not pull off the upset.
Texas A&M
2 of 5Texas A&M did move up two spots in the rankings from No. 25 to No. 23, but they were passed by Houston who went from being not ranked to No. 22.
Arizona State jumped up four spots from No. 24 to No. 20, but where is the love for the Aggies?
A&M defeated the previously undefeated Texas Tech on the road. And while they have two losses, they were to Oklahoma State by one point and to Arkansas by four.
The snub was in order this week for Texas A&M.
Florida
3 of 5The Gators dropped from No. 18 out of the rankings this week after losing to LSU by 30.
Florida played without starting quarterback John Brantley and dropping them eight spots to No. 26 seems a little harsh considering who they were playing.
The Gators are 4-2 with losses to Alabama and LSU. Yet, they are ranked behind a Penn State team who is 5-1 with three close wins that could have gone either way.
Florida needs to get Brantley back and healthy so they can compete in the strong SEC.
Wake Forest
4 of 5After losing an overtime thriller at Syracuse in Week 1, the Demon Deacons have been dominant in the past five weeks.
They have taken down NC State, Gardner-Webb, Boston College and Florida State in successive weeks.
While that dominance may not be worthy of a Top 25 ranking, the voters have them at No. 32.
That ranking seems a little low for a 4-1 team who just beat the Seminoles yesterday.
North Carolina
5 of 5North Carolina remains unranked this week after beating Louisville 14-7.
The Tar Heels are 5-1 on the season with their only loss coming at No. 12 Georgia Tech by seven points.
This week they came in at No. 27 behind Penn State and Baylor who have the same amount of losses.
Not having North Carolina in the Top 25 this week is surprising and disappointing.
