BCS Rankings: 3 Teams Who Will Be Ranked Higher Than They Deserve
The first college football BCS rankings will be released next Sunday after all Week 8 games are completed. LSU and Alabama will likely start the season No. 1 and 2, respectively, in the first set of BCS rankings, and they are fully deserving of being that high.
There are several teams who will be ranked higher than they deserve to be, and will unfairly have an advantage over other teams from the start of the BCS rankings.
Let's look at five teams who will be ranked higher in the BCS than they deserve to be.
1) Boise State Broncos
Boise State doesn't deserve to be in the top seven of the BCS rankings, but you know they will be. They are in the top five of both weekly polls and are undefeated.
However, their only quality win was against a bad Georgia team and they won't play another good team for the rest of the season until bowl season.
Boise State should have scheduled more games against quality opponents from BCS conferences but they did not, and they have only themselves to blame for that.
2) Stanford Cardinal
Stanford is a very good team, but they have no quality wins. They shouldn't be ahead of Oklahoma State or Clemson, both of whom have several quality wins.
The Cardinal have the best quarterback in college football, but don't deserve to be in ahead of teams who have played tougher schedules and are undefeated.
The only game that Stanford has left on their schedule against a currently ranked opponent is against Oregon, who is currently ranked No. 9.
3) Michigan Wolverines
Michigan doesn't deserve to be in the top 10 of the first BCS rankings next Sunday, but they almost certainly will.
The Wolverines have zero quality wins, and haven't even played a ranked team in the Big 10 yet. In fact none of their six opponents they've beaten are currently ranked right now.
Michigan is a very good team with a great offense, but they haven't been tested yet.
