Week 7 College Football Rankings 2011: 3 Teams That Proved They Are Legit

Andrew KulhaOct 9, 2011

Sometimes in the college football world you have to step up and prove that you are worth your hype.

Let's be honest, sometimes all the college football rankings are a lot of hype, so whenever a team can go out there and put in a good game and prove that they are worth their ranking it's got to be a good feeling.

There are far to many highly ranked undefeated teams that have played soft schedules, yet they fight themselves ranked higher than a much better one-loss team with a hard schedule.

That's the beauty of college football though.

Every week you get to go out and prove that you are worth your weight in gold.

Here are three teams that had great games and proved that they are legitimate.

Oklahoma

Coming into the season I didn't think the Sooners deserved to be ranked No.1. They fell to No. 3 which I think is much more realistic at this point. That being said, they came out today in the Red River Rivalry game and stuck it to the Texas Longhorns. They were dominant in just about every facet of the game, in what was really the first big test of their season. I was impressed by the Sooners today.

LSU

If anybody had any doubts that the Tigers deserve to be ranked No. 1 in the nation I think yesterday's win against a powerful Florida team should quiet those thoughts. Sure, the Gators didn't have quarterback Michael Brantley, but it probably wouldn't have mattered anyhow. LSU is dominant on both sides of the ball, and they've proven themselves worthy of No.1 every step of the way this season.

Boise State

If Boise keeps this up there should be no way they can't be in the running for the BCS championship game. I expected them to beat Fresno State, but they made it look so easy. Kellen Moore is putting up some great numbers, and their offense is simply unstoppable.
