Oklahoma vs. Texas: Will Case McCoy Ever Live Up to Brother's Legend?

Texas Longhorns quarterback Case McCoy has some very big expectations to live up to, and I'm not really sure if he will be able to.

Like it or not, McCoy is always going to be compared to his brother Colt McCoy, who was a star for the Longhorns and now is one of the leaders on a resurgent Cleveland Browns team in the NFL.

Colt McCoy was the real deal at Texas.

He was a leader, a role model and an extremely good quarterback.

The Longhorns had a shot to win every game they played in because he was under center.

Unfortunately, at least right now we can't say that about brother Case. To be fair, he's got quite a lot to accomplish, and he hasn't had the time.

In five years at Texas, Colt posted an overall record of 45-8 in 53 starts. He was a two-time All-American and led the Longhorns to three bowl-game wins. He completed 1,157-of-1,645 passes for 13,253 yards and 112 touchdowns.

Sophomore Case, on the other hand, is in his first season under center for the Longhorns and has completed 26-of-37 for 335 yards and two touchdowns.

He's got a long way to go if he wants to leave the impression his brother did on Longhorns Nation, but he looked overmatched, incompetent and frankly scared against the No. 3 Sooners.

While Oklahoma is undoubtedly the better team, I firmly expected McCoy to reach down into his family jeans and at least pull out a gutty performance in a loss.

Instead, he just looked silly in a 55-17 smackdown at home.

He completed only 9-of-16 for 116 yards and no touchdowns. He fumbled the ball twice, one of which was taken back for a touchdown, and overall he just looked sloppy.

This wasn't the performance I was expecting from the younger McCoy, and it certainly isn't the performance his brother would have given.

The Red River Rivalry is one of the most prolific games in sports, and the Texans and McCoy came out and looked overmatched.

I may be unfair to compare Case to his brother right now, but like it or not, those are the expectations he has to live up to.

Today wasn't a good first sign of things to come.
