BCS Rankings 2011: Sleeper Teams With Big-Time Games Left To Make BCS Case

John RozumOct 8, 2011

It's no secret that the 2011 college football season has been exciting, and it's only going to get better.

Also, when the BCS rankings are released, the familiar schools such as LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma will be ranked near the top.

So with that in mind, here are three sleeper teams that could also make a solid case when the year concludes.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

1 of 3

Until the Oklahoma State Cowboys best the Oklahoma Sooners, they will be on the back-burner in the not just the Big 12, but the country as well.

And after winning over Texas A&M in College Station, the Cowboys kept their hopes alive in contending for a conference title, as well as a national title.

Oklahoma State also has other big games left in No.11 Texas (away), No. 25 Baylor (home), and No. 20 Kansas State (home).

So as long as the Cowboys in Stillwater, OK. keep winning, they stay alive, but it all comes down to defeating Oklahoma in early December.

Michigan Wolverines

2 of 3

Although the Wolverines' schedule hasn't been that difficult with Notre Dame being their only formidable opponent, Michigan in undefeated and has a Heisman sleeper in QB Denard Robinson.

As for their schedule, No. 19 Illinois and No. 14 Nebraska still remain, both of whom are expected to be ranked higher when they meet the Wolverines in November.

Also, Michigan could potentially get into and win the Big Ten's first ever conference championship game, which would really make a case for them.

If Big Blue finishes the 2011 with a Big Ten title and a 13-0 record, it's going to be difficult keeping them out of the national title game.

Clemson Tigers

3 of 3

Of the three school's mentioned Clemson has definitely performed the best, and is arguably the most well-known.

However, being that they're in the ACC they may get looked down upon as it's not one stronger than the Big 12, Big Ten, or SEC.

That said, the Tigers defeated three consecutive ranked opponents, still have to play at No. 13 Georgia Tech and No. 18 South Carolina.

In addition, the ACC championship game still exists, so going 13-0 with five wins over ranked opponents would most certainly give Clemson a solid case.

The scariest part about 2011 however, is that we may end up going into bowl season with four or five undefeated schools.
