College Football 2011: The 5 Best Stadiums to be at Today
College football fans across the nation are in for an awesome day filled with good football.
As we take a look at the big games being played today, there are five that really jump out, and we can expect those five stadiums to be loud, hostile, and filled with fans expected to create an absolute electric atmosphere.
College Game Day is at the Red River Rivalry, but is that the best place to be at today?
Let's break down the five best stadiums to be at on this beautiful college football Saturday.
5. Bill Snyder Stadium (Kansas State)
1 of 5This open-ended stadium is a unique one, and one that seems to bode well for the Kansas State Wildcats.
The Wildcats are 3-0 at Bill Snyder stadium this year, and saw five of their seven victories come at home last year.
We should expect 50,000-plus to be in attendance to watch this huge Big 12 matchup Saturday afternoon. Missouri is one of the best non-ranked teams in the country and will be licking their chops at the opportunity to notch this big road win and add the first loss to Kansas State's record.
Expect an electric atmosphere in this one, coming your way soon.
4. Memorial Stadium (Nebraska)
2 of 5Well, heading into this season, before Jim Tressel left Ohio State and five key players were lost to suspension, this game could have rivaled the Red River Rivalry as the best game of this weekend.
But, Ohio State already has two losses and is coming off a shellacking to Michigan State last weekend. Nebraska has not been as advertised and are coming off an embarrassing loss to Wisconsin.
Nebraska has some serious fans and we all know that Memorial Stadium is not an easy place to play by any means. This is going to be an ugly game, but a great atmosphere to be apart of today.
3. Razorback Stadium (Arkansas)
3 of 5Arkansas and Auburn both have one loss, but both of these teams are still well alive in the BCS conversation, with this game being a huge deciding factor on who is legitimate, and who is not.
Razorback Stadium will be electric tonight with close to 80,000 expected to be on hand for this SEC battle.
These two teams really don't like each other, and the fact that this game is being played at night makes things even more crazy.
If you're an Arkansas student, alum, or just a fan, this is the place to be tonight.
2. Tiger Stadium (LSU)
4 of 5If this game was being played at the Swamp, I would have to assume that we would be in for a true SEC classic.
But because the No.1-ranked Tigers get the Gators on their home field, in the eye of the tiger, those Florida boys don't stand much of a chance.
Fans will be loud and spirited in this SEC battle.
LSU gets another chance to prove to the college football world that they are worthy of that top ranking. They shouldn't have a problem in doing so with these wild and crazy fans on their side.
It's about time that LSU gets to play a big-time game at home this season.
1. Cotton Bowl Stadium (Texas-Oklahoma)
5 of 5There isn't a single stadium in all of college football that will be as electric as the Cotton Bowl will be today when Texas and Oklahoma take the field in the storied Red River Rivalry.
If you look at the photo above, that is a classic example of how this stadium is split in half with fans when it comes to this game. Half to the stadium is decked out in crimson, while the other half is filled with burnt orange.
Both of these teams are undefeated. Both of these teams have realistic hopes of making it to the national championship.
I can't think of a better place to be on this college football Saturday.
We should be in for a good one!
