Week 5 College Football Predictions: Auburn and 3 Top 25 Teams Who Will Bust
Being in the top 25 means that you should be a considered a perennial contender, but that isn't always the case.
Week 5 is going to be a bad week for some Top 25 teams including Auburn, Texas and Florida. All enter this week as the underdog, and all will leave this week disappointed.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn runs into one of the best offenses in college football this week, and they generally struggle to slow down high-powered offenses.
Arkansas throws for more than 350 yards for game, good for seventh in the nation. On the other hand, Auburn averages less than 200 yards passing per game, but they do run for over 180 yards per game.
Both teams struggle on the defensive side of the ball, but Auburn's defense allows more than four additional points per game.
With a better offense and a better defense, Auburn is going to get blown out by the Razorbacks.
Florida Gators
Running into the No. 1 team in the country without your starting QB doesn't bode well at all for the Gators.
The LSU defense has been incredible this season, giving up just nine points per game. With a true freshman taking over the reigns, a shutout wouldn't be too much of a surprise.
Expect LSU's run game to dominate the Gators defense, just one week removed from Trent Richardson's explosion.
Texas Longhorns
An upset in this game would be awesome, just to see what would happen to the top five, but it's not going to happen.
Landry Jones has continued to impress in 2011. The Oklahoma passing offense averages over 370 yards per game. The team is also playing stout defense, giving up only 15 points per game.
The Texas offense is just not explosive enough to break down the Sooners defense, and this one should end with a comfortable victory.
