Fresh off of a shocking road upset over South Carolina, the Auburn Tigers will try to pull off that trick for the second consecutive week when they travel to face No. 10 Arkansas.
The Razorbacks enter this contest on their own high as they knocked off newly-minted SEC member Texas A&M after overcoming a 18-point second half deficit to win 42-38.
Auburn’s much maligned defense rose to the occasion against South Carolina’s Heisman Trophy candidate, running back Marcus Lattimore, limiting him to just 67 hard-fought yards on 17 carries in a 16-13 win over the Gamecocks.
Now Gene Chizik's troops will face the SEC’s top offense, but the Razorbacks prefer to do their damage through the air.
Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson threw for a staggering 510 yards, with 281 of those yards going to wide receiver Jarius Wright, in the victory over the Aggies.
They will look to pounce on the Tigers young and battered secondary, which is allowing an SEC-worst 232.8 passing yards per game.
This matchup has huge implications in what may be the toughest division in college football.
The winner stays in the thick of the SEC West race with LSU and Alabama.
In a hugely competitive league with four Top 15 teams, the loser is highly unlikely to compete for a trip to Atlanta.
Can Auburn’s secondary slow down Arkansas’ vaunted passing attack?
Can the Hogs slow down Tigers' running back and Arkansas native, Michael Dyer?
We will find out momentarily.
Stay tuned to the blog for updates throughout the game.
