College Football Picks Week 6: Texas and 5 Underdogs Guaranteed to Pull Upsets
It’s Texas-Oklahoma weekend in the middle of the Texas State Fair in Dallas, and this year, unlike last year, the Longhorns will upset the Sooners ruining their National Championship hopes and dreams.
Like that for a bold prediction?
As we head into the halfway point of the college football season, teams are starting to come into their own. Every week there are less and less upset victories for the casual viewer to watch at home. But that isn’t to say that there are the games that surprise and shock fans.
Just last week we had such upsets as: Pittsburgh over South Florida, Auburn over South Carolina, Clemson over Virginia Tech, Kansas State over Baylor, and Southern Methodist University over Texas Christian University.
Week 6 of the season has a full plate of games for upsets to occur to the Top 25 teams.
Here are five games for guaranteed upsets.
Texas (+10) over Oklahoma
Texas vs OU is always a classic encounter every year. They play at a neutral stadium at the Cotton Bowl. The game is in the middle of the Texas State Fair. The stadium is split down the 50-yard line between Texas and OU fans.
But enough about the atmosphere, you want to know about the game.
Texas has found quite the dynamic offense in the last two games. They blew out both UCLA and Iowa State, scoring over 30 points in each game. They can test this good OU defense with their two quarterbacks.
Expect a big game from Texas’ freshman running back Malcolm Brown on Saturday.
Air Force (+14) over Notre Dame
Notre Dame has been one of the hottest college teams in the country with their three-game winning streak. But, if they continue to turn the ball over against an Air Force team that is great at running the ball and controlling the clock, they will suffer an embarrassing upset at home this Saturday.
Auburn (+10) over Arkansas
The defending national champion Tigers are coming into this game with a huge win under their belts after last week’s upset victory over South Carolina.
Arkansas was lucky to come out of last week with a win against Texas A&M. If the Aggies don’t pull the gag job in the second half of last week’s game then this line is maybe Arkansas minus-4 instead of minus-10.
War Eagle over WOOOOOOOOOAHH Pig SUEY on Saturday.
Texas Tech (+10) over Texas A&M
Speaking of the chokies, I mean Aggies, they come into this game against the undefeated Red Raiders of Texas Tech after blowing not one, but two second half leads in back-to-back games.
How do you think their psyche is going to be on the road in Lubbock? Not good that’s how it’s going to be.
Ohio State (+11) over Nebraska
Nebraska’s first game at home in the Big Ten is against the defending Big Ten champion. We all saw what happened to Nebraska in their first game in the Big Ten last week. A beat down by last year’s co-champion with Ohio State, Wisconsin.
This week, the Buckeyes to stop Nebraska’s quarterback Taylor Martinez, thus shutting down their offense.
Buckeyes win in a close one to put the Huskers 0-2 in their new conference.
