Oregon Throwback Uniforms: Will Ducks Bring Back the Retro Look in CFB vs. Cal?
The Oregon Ducks are at it again.
The college football team that sets the pace for style is at it again.
After busting out sleek futuristic-type jerseys from the Nike โCombatโ line earlier in the season, Phil Knight and his band of merry men are going old school.

In Thursday nightโs Pac-12 matchup against Cal, the Ducks will be embracing their innerโฆDuck.
They are busting out the old Donald Duck logo from the mid-1980s and once again a trend is born out of Eugene.
With the logo on the shoulder and the bright green covering the remainder of the jersey aside from the numbers outlined in yellow, this is one cool uniform. The words โFighting Ducksโ are displayed across the chest.
Itโs certainly not as busy as some of the jerseys coming out this season. Itโs the sort of retro look that the rest of college football needs to copy.
The insane designs by Under Armour have gotten out of control. There has never been more negative buzz surrounding a jersey than when Maryland played in prime time against Miami in Week 1.
The South Carolina Gamecocks had to switch their jerseys right before a game because the numbers were camouflaged. Wow, what a surprise, the refs couldnโt read the camouflaged numbers.
Itโs getting out of hand and itโs time for the rest of college football to get back to their roots. Personally, I think the old-school logos of years past are a great way to remind your alums of the history of the program while also giving the team a new look not seen for the past decade or two.
Some may look at the new jersey as yet another money grab by Nike. Well, duh, thatโs what it's in the business of doing.
The company is innovative and ahead of the curve on almost everything, and expect the rest of the college football world to bust out retro unis sooner or later as well.ย
