Week 6 College Football Picks: Oklahoma Sooners and 3 Top 25 Showdown Winners

Michael DixonOct 6, 2011

This week, we're being treated to three games between Top 25.

No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 11 Texas square off in Dallas in the Red River Rivalry. No. 17 Florida travels to "Death Valley" to take on No. 1 LSU, and No. 10 Arkansas will host No. 15 Auburn.

All Rankings are from the AP Poll

Right now, we're going to take a look at those three games to see what we can expect. Which teams will have their BCS dreams dashed? Which ones will get a nice BCS kick?

We'll know for sure on Saturday, but let's take a look at these games and do our best to predict what might happen.

Oklahoma vs. Texas

Texas is far too unproven for me to think that they can play with Oklahoma. The Longhorns have been impressive, but their opponents have not been.

Landry Jones and Ryan Broyles will be far too much for the Texas offense to keep up with.

Although they are ranked No. 3 and the BCS polls have yet to be released, Oklahoma seems well on their way to a BCS National Championship Game appearance.

At the very least, they should be undefeated going into Bedlam against Oklahoma State. The Cotton Bowl will be rocking, but Oklahoma has too much for the Longhorns. The burnt orange section of the crowd will be silenced.

Florida vs. LSU

Looking at what happened when Florida played Alabama, I am not liking the Gators' chances. For one, I am not sure who the better team between LSU and Alabama is, but the difference isn't that significant.

Florida was handily beaten by Alabama in Florida, without the injuries they are dealing with now. While Jordan Jefferson is still not starting, he is a nice part of the LSU offense that will bring a change of pace to the Gators defense and keep them off balance.

The LSU faithful will be loud early and loud often. The Tigers and Crimson Tide are on a collision course for an epic November 5 clash in Tuscaloosa.

Auburn vs. Arkansas

I would be a flat-out liar if I said that I felt that either of these teams were worthy of where they are ranked. They both leave an awful lot to be desired.

Arkansas' offense is quite effective, but they have a problem stopping teams. They have too much talent in this one.

Tyler Wilson will have a big day and lead the Razorbacks to a fairly convincing win.

Arkansas will be exposed later in the year, but they have what it takes to down Auburn, especially at home.

Predictions:

Oklahoma 31, Texas 20

LSU 28, Florida 10

Arkansas 37, Auburn 16
