College Football Rankings: Predicting How Each Top 25 Team Will Do in Week 6

Randy ChambersOct 7, 2011

Week 6 of the college football season is almost here, and with several marquee matchups, the rankings look to change drastically.

With games like Oklahoma-Texas, Florida-LSU, Miami-Virginia Tech, Auburn-Arkansas and Ohio State-Nebraska, Week 6 looks to be another great week of college football.

Hope you don't have anything planned, as there are some must-watch games this weekend.

Here are the predictions for how every Top 25 team will perform on Saturday.

25. Baylor Bears

1 of 25

Baylor will perform much better than they did last week and should pull out a victory against Iowa State. Although Robert Griffin may have hurt his Heisman hopes, the Bears are still a threat in the Big 12.

24. Texas Tech A&M Aggies

2 of 25

The Aggies don't know how to close games and they think they'll be successful in the SEC? I think they lose their third heart-breaker in a row to a very underrated Texas Tech team. The Aggies will also drop out of the Top 25.

23. Florida State Seminoles

3 of 25

After going from National Championship contenders to barely holding on in the Top 25, the Seminoles win over Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have been struggling all season and can't match Florida State's athleticism.

22. Arizona State Sun Devils

4 of 25

Still don't know what to make of this Arizona State team but I do believe they are good enough to go on the road to beat Utah. Although we should find out more about them next week against Oregon.

21. Virginia Tech Hokies

5 of 25

I remember when Virginia Tech vs. Miami was a must watch, but this week it seems like an afterthought. The Hokies haven't looked good all year but they're at home and I don't trust Jacory Harris, so I'll pick Virginia Tech to win a close one.

20. Kansas State Wildcats

6 of 25

Where did this team come from? Two wins over Miami and Baylor and they jump into the Top 25. A meeting against Missouri should end the Wildcats fairytale ride and knock them back out of the rankings.

19. Illinois Fighting Illini

7 of 25

I really think it's only a matter of time before Ron Zook finds a way to mess this season up for Illinois. But it won't be this week against Indiana as the Fighting Illini roll.

18. South Carolina Gamecocks

8 of 25

Even Stephen Garcia is good enough to beat the Kentucky team they'll play on Saturday. We need a big game from Marcus Lattimore to keep him in the running for the Heisman.

17. Florida Gators

9 of 25

A true freshman quarterback going into Tiger Stadium to play one of the toughest defenses in the country. Things could be better if you're a Florida Gators fan. Ouch.

16. West Virginia Mountaineers

10 of 25

West Virginia vs. UCONN was a great game last year but things have changed since then. Look for the Mountaineers to score tons of points on the Huskies and jump out to a 5-1 record.

15. Auburn Tigers

11 of 25

Auburn is missing nearly their entire receiving crop this weekend. That doesn't look good considering they're playing an Arkansas team that scores a ton of points. Tigers lose a close one.

14. Nebraska Cornhuskers

12 of 25

Nebraska can't be as bad as they showed last week against Wisconsin, can they? Better yet, can they be as bad as to lose to Ohio State this weekend? I don't think so. The Cornhuskers get back on track.

13. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

13 of 25

That triple option is looking better than ever as the Yellow Jackets are 5-0. Look for another victory as they take on a Maryland team that struggles to score points.

12. Michigan Wolverines

14 of 25

Northwestern doesn't score enough points to keep up with Denard Robinson and company. But I wonder how many spots in the rankings a win over the Wildcats is worth. They jumped seven with a victory over Minnesota last week.

11. Texas Longhorns

15 of 25

If the Longhorns can pressure Landry Jones and control the clock with their running game, they'll win over Oklahoma. I believe they can do it, so mark me down for the upset victory.

Hook 'em Horns!

10. Arkansas Razorbacks

16 of 25

The Razorbacks have one of the top offenses in the country and are going up against an Auburn defense that struggles to stop anybody. Arkansas wins in a close one.

9. Oregon Ducks

17 of 25

The game against California will be a lot closer than most people expected but the Ducks will be too much in the end. The Ducks win and LaMichael James gets back in the Heisman conversation.

8. Clemson Tigers

18 of 25

Clemson finally gets a break and takes on Boston College. This is the same team that lost to Duke and scores less than three touchdowns a game. Good luck keeping up with the Tigers, you'll need it.

7. Stanford Cardinal

19 of 25

Stanford continues their cupcake schedule and beats Colorado. Just business as usual for Andrew Luck and company.

6. Oklahoma State Cowboys

20 of 25

You take this Cowboys offense and put it up against the worst defense in the country in Kansas. You get a 100-point victory. Well, maybe a little less but you get the picture.

5. Boise State Broncos

21 of 25

We all know what Boise State is going to do for the rest of the season. Beat up on horrible teams and hope a few of the teams above them lose so they can get some National Championship consideration. The Broncos win again over Fresno State.

4. Wisconsin Badgers

22 of 25

If Wisconsin was able to manhandle Nebraska the way they did, what will they do to Indiana? The Badgers cruise as the hardest part of their schedule is over with.

3. Oklahoma Sooners

23 of 25

I've picked against some of the top teams in these articles before and have been wrong. I'll continue doing so until I get one right. The Sooners lose in another classic Red River Rivalry game.

2. Alabama Crimson Tide

24 of 25

Alabama is coming off two straight victories over Arkansas and Florida. A team like Vanderbilt shouldn't be a problem even though they have a very underrated defense. Game could be closer than many think but Crimson Tide still wins.

1. LSU Tigers

25 of 25

The game against Florida was suppose to be a great matchup but with a freshman quarterback playing for Florida it losses a little bit of excitement. It should still be a great game but it's at LSU, the Tigers have a ridiculous defense and they're playing a freshman quarterback. What do you think is going to happen?
