California vs. Oregon: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Andrew KulhaOct 5, 2011

It's going to be quite a vintage Pac-12 matchup when the California Golden Bears head up north to play the high-flying Oregon Ducks.

Both teams are coming off bye weeks and should be well rested, which may actually be a disadvantage for Cal.

The Ducks feature LaMichael James, the nations leading rusher, and an offense that is averaging 52 points per game.

The Golden Bears are no slouch themselves, though—quarterback Zach Maynard has thrown for over 1,000 yards to lead Cal to a 3-1 record coming into this game.

The 3-1 Ducks need this game just as much, so I expect this to be an exceptional matchup between two good Pac-12 teams.

Where: Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR

When: Thursday Oct. 6, 9 p.m EST

Watch: ESPN, ESPN3

Listen: KGO Newstalk AM 1810 San Francisco; KUGN 590 AM Eugene

Stream: calbears.com; goducks.tv

Betting Line (Bodog.com): Oregon -24

What's At Stake:

This is a huge game for both teams on the Pac-12 schedule. California would be pulling off a huge upset on the home field of a rival, and it would be a big jump into the rankings for them. Oregon, on the other hand, is still trying to regain the ground they lost after a devastating opening weekend loss to LSU.

Key Storyline:

Everything goes back to regaining ground for the Ducks. They were literally a few plays away from winning the national championship last season, but ever since the loss to LSU they have been behind the eight-ball. This is a game they need to win at home.

Who Might Not Play for California: Defensive lineman Aaron Tipoti questionable (ankle), defensive back Michael Coley questionable (foot), tight end Spencer Ladner doubtful (knee).

Who Might Not Play for Oregon: Linebacker Michael Clay probable (ankle), tight end Curtis White questionable (leg), offensive lineman Ramsen Golpashin out indefinitely (knee).

BCS/Top 25 Implications:

Beating the No. 9 team in the country would go a long way towards getting the Golden Bears into the Top 25, so they know what's at stake. The Ducks are starting to rebound, but need to keep climbing. An impressive win would really help them.

What They're Saying: FoxNews.com analyzes the matchup between these two Pac-12 foes—Cal has the overall record in the series, but the Ducks have won the past two matchups. Both teams are rested and feeling confident going into the game.

Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian on oregonlive.com writes about a controversial injury to Cal defender Aaron Tipoti. Many, including Oregon lineman Mark Asper, believed he was faking.

California Player to Watch:

Junior quarterback Zach Maynard is going to be the key player for the Golden Bears if they plan on keeping up with the Ducks. He's going to have to improve on his already impressive 1,073 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year.

Oregon Player to Watch:

It's hard to take your eyes off Ducks running back LaMichael James when he has the ball. I expect him to vastly improve on his 613 yards and seven touchdowns so far.

Key Matchup:

If the Golden Bears can even get one or two stops on defense, then they may have a chance at pulling off an upset. Their offense is good, but it can't keep up with the Ducks without some help.

On the Hotseat:

The Ducks are on the hotseat for the rest of the season. They really put themselves at a disadvantage when they lost to LSU, so now they have to make up for that every time they take the field.

Prediction:

It's going to be a high-scoring affair and I think it will be closer than many expect. In the end, the better team will win.
