College Football Picks Week 6: Three Games You'll Lose Your Money On

Randy ChambersOct 5, 2011

With Week 6 of the college football season just a couple days away, there are several marquee matchups that are worth looking into. But just like every week, there are betting lines that are traps, and if you're not careful, you will get brought into it.

Here are a few games that you'll lose your money on if you bet with the public.

Florida Gators at LSU Tigers

1 of 3

I know Florida is missing their starting quarterback John Brantley, but that doesn't affect their defense, which only gives up 21 points a game. Last time I checked, they still had Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps running the football as well.

I do believe that the Tigers will win the game, but they won't cover the spread. Just like Florida will have to work for their points, the Tigers will as well. LSU is not a scoring machine and the Gators should be able to keep things close in a tough SEC matchup.

Florida Gators are 15-5 against the spread in their last 20 road games.

Pick - Florida Gators +13.5

California at Oregon

2 of 3

The Oregon Ducks have been playing the way we are used to seeing them play ever since they lost in Week 1 to the LSU Tigers. But f you're a fan of history, you won't expect a blowout in this game.

California normally always plays the Ducks well and even last season, they only lost by two points when Oregon was a 18.5-point favorite. The Golden Bears normally either win these matchups or keep it extremely close.

California has a decent enough running game to control the clock a bit and a good enough defense to keep them in the game. In only four games this season, the Golden Bears have 13 sacks and 31 tackles for loss.

Not to mention, the Golden Bears are rumored to have some new uniforms for this game, so you can bet the players will be hyped for this one.

California is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings against Oregon.

Pick: California +24

Georgia at Tennessee

3 of 3

This is one of those trap games you have to be aware about. The line is a pick 'em because Tennessee is at home. Don't fall for it.

The Bulldogs have a better offense and a better defense. I refuse to put money on a team that is one-dimensional as the Volunteers are. Tennessee is a good passing team, averaging over 250 a game but when it comes to running the ball, they barely top 100 a game.

Georgia has turned things around since Week 2 and have a balanced offense and a solid defense. Don't let the slow start fool you, they were against solid teams. This Georgia team is still talented and can compete with the best of them.

I'll take the better team on the road in a pick 'em game.

Pick: Georgia PK
