Predicting the Winner of College Football's 50 Best Remaining Games
Don't look now but we are already in October and for as long as fans waited for the start of the season, the year is already flying by.
Over the first month of college football, fans have been treated to some outstanding game, amazing plays and tons of surprises around the nation.
As we enter the sixth week of college football, here is a look at not only the top 50 games remaining but the winners of those games.
October 6: Cal at Oregon
1 of 50Last year, Cal pushed Oregon to the limit and came up just short of ending their undefeated regular season. This year, the Golden Bears head to Autzen and hope to improve on their performance from the last time they were there.
With the game being on Thursday night, the crowd will be into it and Oregon is breaking out retro uniforms for the game.
Winner: Oregon
October 8: Auburn at Arkansas
2 of 50So far this year Auburn has proved that they are not going anywhere after last year's national championship run.
Arkansas is coming off of a huge second half comeback and should be able to put up enough points to neutralize Michael Dyer.
Winner: Arkansas
October 8: Texas vs. Oklahoma
3 of 50Oklahoma won the Red River Rivalry last year and will look to make it two straight in 2011.
Texas is looking to continue their recent momentum, and when these two get together, you almost always get an entertaining game, not to mention the fact that they are both still undefeated.
Winner: Oklahoma
October 8: Florida at LSU
4 of 50Florida lost a close home game in 2010 and will have to head to LSU for a night game at Death Valley. To make things worse for the Gators, they have lost their starting quarterback which will make a victory much more difficult.
Winner: LSU
October 8: Miami at Virginia Tech
5 of 50After losing at home, Miami will be hungry to return the favor in 2011. On the other hand, Virginia Tech is coming off of a tough loss at home to Clemson and will not want to drop two straight home games.
Winner: Virginia Tech
October 8: Ohio State at Nebraska
6 of 50With Nebraska now a member of the Big Ten, Ohio State will make their first trip out to Lincoln for a conference game.
Based on last week's games by both teams, a loss here will likely knock either one of these programs out of the running for the Big Ten championship game.
Winner: Nebraska
October 8: Arizona State at Utah
7 of 50Utah is still adjusting to conference play at this point, but they will need to find a way to win this game at home to start to gain some respect around the conference.
On the opposite side of the field, the Sun Devils must remain focused and not look past Utah to their game at Autzen Stadium next week.
Winner: Arizona State
October 15: Michigan at Michigan State
8 of 50Both of these teams will battle in the game to win the state of Michigan.
Michigan and Michigan State will be going at it in Week 7, and GameDay should want to be there as the Spartans look to continue their strong play against the Wolverines.
As the schedule starts to get tough for Michigan, the wins and hits against Denard Robinson will start to add up.
Winner: Michigan State
October 15: LSU at Tennessee
9 of 50This is the kind of game that if LSU looks past it, they could get upset at Tennessee. With the way that Tyler Bray is throwing the ball and Tennessee is playing, the Vols will have a decent chance playing at home, but ultimately the LSU defense will prove to be too much.
Winner: LSU
October 15: Oklahoma State at Texas
10 of 50If Texas can stay on track and continue through the season the way that they have started it, this mid season matchup with Oklahoma State will be a huge in-conference game and will certainly not lack scoring.
While both defenses will struggle, I do not see the Longhorns being able to slow down Justin Blackmon.
Winner: Oklahoma State
October 15: Baylor at Texas A&M
11 of 50Despite their loss at Kansas State, the Baylor Bears and their offense are still extremely dangerous with how well Robert Griffin has played.
Texas A&M is still trying to shake the stink of back-to-back comeback losses off of themselves but the home-field advantage will prove to be huge.
Winner: Texas A&M
October 15: Florida at Auburn
12 of 50With the recent injury to John Brantley and Auburn getting back on the winning track, this game has a lot different feel to it than it may have had before the season started.
Look for Michael Dyer to continue to carry the load and lead the Tigers to another win.
Winner: Auburn
October 15: Oregon vs. Arizona State
13 of 50Arizona State struggled to take care of the ball and lost to Oregon at home in 2010.
Some think this could be a preview of the Pac-12 Championship, but it will be interesting to see how Arizona State handles the Autzen crowd at night.
Winner: Oregon
October 22: Wisconsin at Michigan State
14 of 50Wisconsin will be making their second straight visit to East Lansing to take on the Spartans. This is another game that could go a long way to determining the conference championship.
While the Spartans have the home-field advantage, Wisconsin is just too good this year.
Winner: Wisconsin
October 22: Auburn at LSU
15 of 50LSU has been a machine so far this year and will still have the memories of last year's loss in their heads. Look for the Tigers to come out and shutdown the Auburn rushing attack and pull away late in the third quarter.
Winner: LSU
October 22: Washington at Stanford
16 of 50Washington has surprised some people so far this year but will face a tough game when they head on the road to take on Andrew Luck and Stanford.
While the Huskies may hang around early, Stanford has too many weapons to not win this conference game.
Winner: Stanford
October 22: USC at Notre Dame
17 of 50The Fighting Irish caught many people off-guard as they went on the road and pulled off a huge victory over USC.
If Notre Dame can defend their home field by protecting the ball and winning the battles up front, we could be seeing the revival of a great rivalry.
Winner: Notre Dame
October 29: Stanford at USC
18 of 50As the second half of the season starts to close out, Stanford will be tested, and that begins with a trip to USC. The Cardinal could still be undefeated, and Heisman candidate Andrew Luck will be on display.
This game will likely turn into an offensive shootout, but the Trojans have shown inconsistencies while Luck and the Cardinal have not.
Winner: Stanford
October 29: Wisconsin at Ohio State
19 of 50After taking over the top spot in college football last year, Ohio State was defeated by Wisconsin. This year, the Buckeyes will be more than willing to try and return the favor but unfortunately they will not have the talent to outscore Russell Wilson and the Badgers offense.
Winner: Wisconsin
October 29: Michigan State at Nebraska
20 of 50Michigan State and Nebraska could be the two at the head of the pack in the Legends Division, and this will be a game that could eliminate one of them.
So far this season, both teams have shown some weaknesses but have also been impressive at other times.
Look for the Nebraska defense to preserve this victory late in the game.
Winner: Nebraska
October 29: Clemson at Georgia Tech
21 of 50Before the season began, this game was off the radar and people certainly did not expect this to feature two top 15 teams but that is likely what you will see.
While the Tigers may be on the road, how can you pick against a team that has beat Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech.
Winner: Clemson
October 29: Baylor at Oklahoma State
22 of 50Regardless of how these two teams perform between now and this game, one thing is for sure, and that is that these two teams will put up a ton of points, and it will be a lot of fun to watch.
The difference may end up being the Oklahoma State defense and making a couple of timely plays to secure a win.
Winner: Oklahoma State
October 29: Florida at Georgia
23 of 50These two went into overtime, and Florida escaped with a 34-31 victory last year.
This year, a lot could depend on the health of quarterback John Brantley at this point. If the Gators have their starter back, they should be able to outlast the Bulldogs in a great rivalry game.
Winner: Florida
November 5: Texas A&M at Oklahoma
24 of 50Oklahoma should still be undefeated at this point and will still have their eyes on the national title. On the other hand, who knows how Texas A&M will respond to their past two blown leads.
With the offensive talent that Oklahoma brings to the game and the ability to know that no lead the Aggies get is insurmountable, the Sooners should remain undefeated.
Winner: Oklahoma
November 5: Michigan at Iowa
25 of 50The Michigan schedule continues to get more difficult and this game will be a challenge as they head on the road to take on Iowa.
Last year the Big Ten schedule really slowed down Denard Robinson, and I believe that Iowa will do enough to pull out a close win.
Winner: Iowa
November 5: Oregon at Washington
26 of 50This heated rivalry heads back to Washington this year and the Huskies believe that they have the team that could bring their losing streak to an end.
While Washington's defense has improved, they still do not have the athletes or offensive power to keep up with the Ducks.
Winner: Oregon
November 5: LSU at Alabama
27 of 50This game needs very little build up, and the teams speak for themselves. This will be an elimination game in the SEC, as the winner will likely go on to win the division and conference and have an outstanding chance of representing the conference in the BCS title game.
The only advantage I can see in this game is that it is being played at Alabama so that is what I will go with.
Winner: Alabama
November 5: South Carolina at Arkansas
28 of 50While this game will certainly be overshadowed by the matchup between LSU and Alabama, it is still a must see late in the season. Both these teams enter the game with offenses that have the potential to put up a ton of points so it will be up to their defenses to steal the show.
This year South Carolina has shown that they are more susceptible to being slowed down, so go with the home team.
Winner: Arkansas
November 10: Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech
29 of 50After an early conference loss by Virginia Tech this game becomes even bigger for the Hokies this season.
When the two meet up, Georgia Tech and their running game is something that is very difficult to stop and I do not see Virginia Tech finding a way to get it done.
Winner: Georgia Tech
November 12: Oregon at Stanford
30 of 50There is a very good chance that when these two teams meet in November that Stanford will be undefeated and Oregon will only have the loss to LSU.
These two teams match up very well and can put a ton of points on the board at any time during the game.
Ultimately I believe that the home field and Andrew Luck will prove to be too much.
Winner: Stanford
November 12: Florida at South Carolina
31 of 50Another must see game in Week 11 would be this SEC conference game between South Carolina and Florida.
We could be in store for a lot of points in the Spurrier Bowl but with the game being played in South Carolina, I believe the Gamecocks defense will rise up and help them secure this victory.
Winner: South Carolina
November 12: Nebraska at Penn State
32 of 50As Nebraska continues to make the rounds in the Big Ten, they will make a trip out to Happy Valley to take on Penn State.
While playing on the road in conference is never easy, look for the running game of Nebraska to take over this game in the second half.
Winner: Nebraska
November 12: Miami at Florida State
33 of 50Early in the year both of these teams have shown the ability to be really good but then also have shown the ability to look uninspired and unfocused.
When the Hurricanes go on the road, a lot will be on Jacory Harris to help them pull out a win and I just don't see him rising up to that challenge.
Winner: Florida State
November 12: TCU at Boise State
34 of 50Usually, these two teams battle for positioning in the national rankings to see who can crash the BCS party.
In 2011, they find themselves in the same conference and TCU will want to be the team to hand Boise State their first loss of the season, but unfortunately they do not have the talent to do so.
Winner: Boise State
November 19: Nebraska at Michigan
35 of 50Late in the Big Ten schedule, the Cornhuskers make their first trip to the Big House for a conference matchup. Both teams have extremely mobile quarterbacks, but the Nebraska defense could ultimately be the difference maker.
Winner: Nebraska
November 19: Oregon vs. USC
36 of 50Last year the Ducks headed down to Southern California and beat the Trojans for the second straight year.
This year, the Trojans head up to Eugene, where they have not won since 2005.
While the game will remain close through the half, look for Oregon to begin to pull away as the lack of depth continues to be an issue for USC in this matchup.
Winner: Oregon
November 19: Oklahoma at Baylor
37 of 50With how well Robert Griffin is playing, this game may turn out to be more interesting than expected. Both teams have the capability to put up huge points and the Sooners have shown that they are a different team on the road so this could be a great game.
Winner: Oklahoma
November 19: Boise State at San Diego State
38 of 50Boise State will continue to cruise through their schedule until a late season meeting with San Diego State.
Much like last year, Boise State will be looking forward to a BCS game and may look past San Diego State.
The game will stay close and look for the possible upset.
Winner: San Diego State
November 24: Texas at Texas A&M
39 of 50These two in-state programs will go up against each other in a loaded week of college football.
Texas fans will hope this game has huge implications at this point in the year, and who knows what the status of this rivalry will be, with the Aggies bolting for the SEC.
Winner: Texas A&M
November 25: Pittsburgh at West Virginia
40 of 50The Backyard Brawl is always an entertaining game, and the Big East hopes this year is no different. This game could be a showcase for a conference that is quickly losing respect.
West Virginia has looked good and Pittsburgh could surprise some people after their recent win over South Florida.
Winner: WVU
November 26: Stanford vs. Notre Dame
41 of 50Stanford walked into South Bend and left with a comfortable victory.
This year, the Irish will head to Stanford for an end-of-the-year game against the Cardinal. Many storylines for Stanford could be intact, like Andrew Luck making a run at the Heisman, and the Cardinal could have a BCS game in their future.
Winner: Stanford
November 26: Florida State at Florida
42 of 50Week 13 continues to provide many marquee games, including the match between Florida and Florida State.
Regardless of where they are in the rankings, this will be an outstanding game.
Winner: Florida State
November 26: Ohio State at Michigan
43 of 50This year's game between Michigan and Ohio State will have a very different feel.
The two teams will go at it with new head coaches, and the Wolverines are hoping they can turn the tide in this rivalry as the Buckeyes appear to be having a down year.
Winner: Michigan
November 26: UCLA at USC
44 of 50If Rick Neuheisel is still the head coach of UCLA, a loss in this rivalry game could be the final nail in his coaching career with the Bruins. Neuheisel has promised a change in this rivalry, and now would be the time to see that.
In this game, there will be way too much offense for the Bruins to keep up and Barkley to Woods will be a common phrase this game.
Winner: USC
November 26: Oregon State at Oregon
45 of 50The Civil War has seen the Ducks win three straight, and in those games, a berth in the Rose Bowl and National Championship have been on the line.
With how bad the Beavers have looked this year, expect an Oregon win, by a lot.
Winner: Oregon
November 26: Alabama at Auburn
46 of 50It is hard to forget about this game from last year, as Alabama looked to be cruising to a victory only to have Auburn turn the tide and earn a much-needed road victory.
Alabama will be itching for a shot at Auburn and would love to return the favor by beating them at home.
Winner: Alabama
November 26: Georgia at Georgia Tech
47 of 50Another great game towards the end of the season will feature Georgia and Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets offense has looked extremely impressive and should be able to take care of the Bulldogs in this rivalry game.
Winner: Georgia Tech
November 26: Ole Miss at Mississippi State
48 of 50Last year, Dan Mullen came out and said he would not lose to Ole Miss ever again.
While the talent may be on his side, he has certainly provided the motivation for the Rebels in 2011 but should be able to back up his mouth this year.
Winner: Mississippi State
December 3: Oklahoma at Oklahoma State
49 of 50When Oklahoma and Oklahoma State faced off last year, it turned into a shootout, and 2011 should be no different.
There is a good chance that when these two teams meet up at the end of the year, both could be undefeated which provides the nation with an amazing matchup.
Winner: Oklahoma State
December 10: Army vs. Navy
50 of 50Regardless of what happens on the field, the scene and pageantry that comes along with this game is priceless.
In this game, our national troops put aside their off-the-field duties and do battle for 60 minutes.
Winner: Navy
