College Football Scores: Wisconsin's Rout of Huskers Has Nation Fearing Badgers
Continuing their lethal offensive attack that they had on display last season, the Wisconsin Badgers are putting up points, with teams at their mercy on the defensive end.
If one thing is for certain with this Badgers team, points are anything but difficult to come by. In five games this season, the team has scored at least 35 points in each contest and put up a total of 48.4 points per game, ranking No. 3 in the nation in points scored.
Going into their game against No. 8 Nebraska, Wisconsin was criticized for scoring significant amounts of points against significantly weaker competition. That was a "significantly" false accusation, as the Badgers would put up 48 points against Nebraska while allowing just 17 against them.
To add some perspective to these numbers, Nebraska had come into the game with a solid defense that has helped them to be the No. 8 team in the nation. A credit to the Badgers defense as well, Nebraska came into the game averaging 42.8 points per game.
One of the main leaders on offense has been junior running back Montee Ball, who has recorded a whopping 13 touchdowns through the first five games of the season, a mark that leads all running backs in the nation. Ball had 18 touchdowns all of last season for the team as he is now just six away from breaking last year's mark.
The other big factor on offense has been the play of starting quarterback Russell Wilson, who has recorded 1,391 yards, 13 touchdowns and just one interception the entire season. His safe play and lack of turnovers has been crucial to the success of the offense in the five wins.
The big test for this Wisconsin Badgers team will be in the next coming weeks, as they take on Michigan State and Ohio State in back-to-back road games.
At the rate these Badgers score points, it's tough for any team in college football to keep up. Call this team the Patriots or Packers of the NFL, the New York Yankees or Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball, the Badgers certainly know a thing or two about putting up points.
The 31-point victory for Wisconsin over Nebraska is the slimmest margin of victory for the team all season. The nation should fear the Badgers for the simple fact that out-scoring them is quite the task.
