College Football Rankings: 5 Teams Who Should Be Ranked Higher
The Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls were released Sunday afternoon, and is always the case, it is difficult to argue where most teams are ranked.
Still, there are some questions that can be posed.
Here we will take a look at five teams that might have arguments to be ranked a little bit higher than they actually are. In this case, we will use the USA Today poll.
No. 3 Alabama
1 of 5Comment: Eventually, this will play itself out, but after Saturday night's 38-10 dismantling of Florida in The Swamp it's probably fair to argue that Alabama deserves to be ranked either first or second.
No. 6 Boise State
2 of 5Comment: Boise State is ranked in the right vicinity, but the question is why is No. 4 Stanford ahead of the Broncos?
Kellen Moore and Co. have a quality win this year—beating Georgia in Atlanta—and also avenged last season's only loss by topping Nevada, while the Cardinal have yet to face a ranked team. If this were Week 12, after Stanford had played the meatiest part of its schedule, then it might deserve higher placement than the Broncos. But right now?
No. 8 Clemson
3 of 5Comment: The Tigers prove how unfair preseason polls can be.
Unranked until three weeks ago, Clemson now has victories against three ranked teams (Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech). LSU may be the only team that can claim a better overall resume, yet Tajh Boyd and Co. just moved up to eighth this week.
Clemson might not be one of the five best teams in the country, but name five more deserving of a higher ranking based on body-of-work this season.
No. 21 Kansas State
4 of 5Comment: The Wildcats are ranked 17th nationally in points against and 18th in rushing yards-a-game. They also have a victory at Miami and knocked Baylor from the ranks of the unbeatens on Saturday.
No. 26 Houston
5 of 5Comment: OK, so the schedule hasn't been much thus far, and UCLA is the only win of relative note. Still the Cougars are 5-0, rank first nationally in average passing yards (451.2) and eighth in average points (45.2). Maybe they are worthy of a spot in the top 25.
