AP College Football Poll: 3 Teams Who Should Be in for Week 6

John RozumOct 2, 2011

Let's face it, we know the polls aren't perfect, and that some teams should be ranked, whereas others shouldn't.

Then there's the teams that are ranked, but are either too high or too low.

Well for this week's AP poll, here are three teams that deserve to be ranked after getting big wins in on Saturday.

Michigan State Spartans

1 of 3

When the Michigan State Spartans began the year, they were ranked No. 17 in the AP's preseason poll.

Three weeks into their season, they got up to No. 15, but then lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the road.

That loss dropped them out of the AP rankings, and to No. 23 in the coaches' poll.

And even with a win last weekend, they were still unranked in the AP poll, and dropped two spots to No. 25 in the coaches' poll.

Well, after a solid road win over Ohio State, the Spartans should get at least No. 22 or No. 23 in the AP poll with TCU, Baylor and South Florida all losing this week.

They obviously still have a lot of work to do, but being 4-1 right now isn't so bad.

Auburn Tigers

2 of 3

Right now Auburn's only loss has come at the hands of the undefeated Clemson Tigers, who just went into Blacksburg, VA. and upset the No. 11-ranked Hokies 23-3.

Then include the improvement of Auburn's defense, which helped slow down then No. 23-ranked Mississippi State and No. 10 South Carolina on Saturday, and Auburn should definitely be ranked.

The defense only held Mississippi State to 34 points, and Utah State to 38 in Week 1, but on the road in Columbia this week, they held the Gamecocks to only 13.

Auburn is 4-1 with the lone loss coming on the road in Death Valley.

These Tigers need to be ranked at least No. 20 or No. 21 heading into their Week 6 matchup with Arkansas.

Kansas State Wildcats

3 of 3

After four games the Kansas State Wildcats are 4-0, and have two big wins to their resume.

The first came on the road in Miami against the Hurricanes, and then this past weekend K-State upset No. 15 Baylor 36-35 at home.

The Wildcats are flying vastly under the radar in the Big 12 thanks to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas, so be aware of them now, or they can sneak up on you.

Also, it's quite possible that Kansas State could be 7-0 the week leading up to their game with the Sooners in late October.

The schedule is very favorable, and right now they deserve to be ranked at least No. 24 or No. 25.
