Nebraska vs Wisconson: QB Russell Wilson Will Lead Badgers to Victory
The Wisconsin Badgers and quarterback Russell Wilson will welcome the Nebraska Cornhuskers to the Big Ten by handing them their first loss of the 2011 season.
The No. 8 Cornhuskers are playing their first game as a Big Ten member, and they face a daunting opponent in No. 7 Wisconsin.
Both teams are currently undefeated and this game will have major BCS implications. Luckily for the Badgers, they have the versatile Wilson on their side.
The Badgers offense has put up some incredible numbers this season, albeit against some lackluster competition. They dropped 51 points on UNLV, 35 on Oregon State, 49 on Northern Illinois, and 59 on South Dakota.
The catalyst of these scoring explosions has been Wilson, the senior transfer from North Carolina State. Wilson has dominated thus far, throwing for 1,136 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has also been incredibly efficient—he's thrown just one interception and his 75.8 completion percentage is good for fifth in the nation.
The athletic Wilson is a threat on the ground as well, carrying the ball 16 times for 108 yards and a touchdown this season.
Wilson's spectacular play has led to four straight blowouts for Wisconsin, who are winning their games by an average score of 49-9.
Of course, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are a little bit better than the South Dakota Coyotes. Wisconsin has yet to face a defense anywhere near the caliber of Nebraska and how they adjust to the higher level of competition will be one of biggest keys to the game.
But based on what they've shown this season, the Badgers are ready for the big time. They have the luxury of playing at home and one of the nation's top signal-callers under center.
I'm certainly not expecting another 40-point win from Wisconsin, but I think they'll handle Nebraska's defense and put up some points.
The Cornhuskers have no answer for the explosive and efficient Wilson, who will catapult his team into prime BCS positioning with a win tonight.
Prediction: Wisconsin 31, Nebraska 21
