Texas A&M to SEC: Aggies vs. Razorbacks Will Show If the Aggies Are SEC Ready
Texas A&M is a week removed from their deflating loss against Oklahoma State, but they have the opportunity on Saturday afternoon for a bit of redemption.
They also have the opportunity to go out and make a statement.
The Aggies can make it clear on Saturday that they are indeed ready for the move to the SEC.
There is one way to both make that statement and attempt to erase the memory of the blown lead a week ago that cost the Aggies an opportunity at a special season.
All they have to do is line up and punch No. 18 Arkansas right in the mouth.
Do that and the questions will cease for a while.
One way to do that is by taking care of the football. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a few uncharacteristic moments last week, but this could be a game that he shines in.
Texas A&M will see a similar-type team that lines up against them in Arkansas. They are similar passing teams, ranking 22nd and 17th in the country, respectively.
Both offenses are scoring over 35 points a game, while both defenses are allowing under 19 points per contest.
Tannehill can win this game for the Aggies, but he shouldn't have to.
The way Texas A&M shows they are SEC ready—and gets their season back on track in the process—is by lining up and running the ball right at the Razorbacks.
The Aggies will get a little taste of SEC football this afternoon, and it shouldn't be anything different for them. Texas A&M is averaging 171.3 yards per game on the ground, and that should help them fit right in to SEC play.
Physical play and a hard hitting defense should make the transition easy.
That's what we should see today. Cyrus Gray and the Aggies' ground game should be Mike Sherman's top priority today.
Take care of the football and pound it down the Razorbacks' throat and the Aggies will have the recipe for SEC success.
