The defending national champion Auburn Tigers will make their second trip to the Palmetto State in a three-week span to face the No. 10 South Carolina Gamecocks.

Two weeks ago, Auburn’s 17-game winning streak ended with a 38-24 loss to Clemson. 

After a tougher-than-expected 30-14 win over FAU, Saturday’s trek to Columbia begins a brutal stretch for the Tigers where they will face four consecutive top-20 opponents, with three contests on the road. 

Meanwhile, South Carolina is off to its first 4-0 start since 2001. 

Thanks to sophomore sensation and Heisman Trophy candidate running back Marcus Lattimore, the Gamecocks have avoided the upset bug despite wildly inconsistent play by quarterback Stephen Garcia and their defense. 

South Carolina’s struggling offense may finally wake up at the sight of Auburn’s putrid defense that was shredded to the tune of 624 yards of total offense against Clemson. 

Auburn has won the last six meetings, including a pair of victories last year when they held off the Gamecocks 35-27 at home last September, and then trounced Steve Spurrier’s troops 56-17 in the SEC championship game.
