College Football Rankings: 5 Best Games Left on Schedule Based on Early Results

Based on the college football rankings to this point in the 2011 season, here are five of the best remaining games on the schedule.

There have already been several matchups between highly-ranked teams this season, including a Week 1 game between the then-ranked No. 4 LSU Tigers and the No. 3 Oregon Ducks.

As the season progresses, the stakes will get even higher when highly ranked teams with national championship aspirations face off and battle for a victory.

LSU Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

As it stands right now, the matchup between the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, November 5 may decide one of the teams headed to the BCS National Championship game.

In the most recent polls, LSU is ranked No. 1 and Alabama is ranked No. 3. Both teams have high-powered offenses and shut-down defenses. They both also have great speed on both sides of the ball.

Needless to say, their game should be a close one right down to the end.

Whoever emerges victorious will have a great shot at playing for the national title.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys

The matchup between interstate rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State looks to be one of the best games of the 2011 college football season.

Both the Sooners and the Cowboys are currently ranked in the top 5 in the country, with Oklahoma at No. 2 and Oklahoma State at No. 5.

Both teams also have passing offenses ranked in the top 10 in the nation.

The Cowboys also enjoy the services of one of the best wide receivers in all of college football in Justin Blackmon. Blackmon might just be the key to a Cowboy victory in the game, as he has caught 38 passes for 450 yards and four touchdowns thus far this season.

Even if one of these two teams loses between now and their December 3 game, it still has the making to be an extremely exciting and high-scoring game.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers

In what could very likely be a preview of the first ever Big Ten championship game, the Wisconsin Badgers will play the Nebraska Cornhuskers on October 1.

Both teams will enter the game with undefeated records and ranked in the Top 10 in the nation, with Wisconsin at No. 7 and Nebraska at No. 8.

So far this season both teams have shown that they can put a lot of points on the board.

However, they have also shown a lack of defense, so it should be quite the high-scoring affair.

Wisconsin is averaging over 240 passing yards and 240 rushing yards per game this season and Nebraska has the best rushing quarterback in the nation in Taylor Martinez.

A shot at being ranked in the top 5 in the nation is on the line for both teams in this matchup.

Stanford Cardinal vs. Oregon Ducks

This game between Oregon and Stanford will be the best game in the PAC-12 conference this season. Stanford is looking for a title behind quarterback Andrew Luck, who skipped the NFL Draft to return for his senior season.

Oregon, on the other hand, is looking to complete their climb back up the rankings after their first-game loss to the LSU Tigers.

Something will have to give in the game, as Stanford has the fourth-best defense in points allowed and Oregon has the second-best offense in points for.

Although Stanford has a solid team, Oregon's running game might just be too much for the Cardinal defense.

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Florida Gators

If both of these teams continue their solid seasons, then this matchup could have a sizable effect on the national rankings.

As it stands, South Carolina is currently ranked 10th in the country, and Florida is ranked 12th. Both teams have strong enough schedules to be ranked in the top 10.

However, Florida will have a very tough path as they play No. 3 Alabama and No. 1 LSU in consecutive weeks.

At the very least, this game should decide who wins the SEC East division and then takes on the West division winner in the SEC Championship game.
