NCAAF Robert Griffin: 3 Reasons Why the Baylor Quarterback Can't Win the Heisman

Robert Griffin III took over the college football world with his astonishing play this season.

The Baylor quarterback is completing over 85 percent of his passes and has thrown more touchdowns (13) than incompletions (12).

Griffin is still an underdog to win the Heisman Trophy for a number of reasons.

He Goes to Baylor

Baylor is not exactly a football powerhouse and just ask Kellen Moore how difficult it is to win the award from a small, underrated school.

Griffin has extraordinary numbers at the moment but Moore has had impressive numbers as well the past couple years and the awards have eventually gone to the best player on the best team.

Baylor’s Defense Won’t Hold Up

Against the two FBS schools they’ve played, the Bears have given up 48 and 31 points. That simply won’t cut against offensive powers like Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Baylor won’t be able to outscore opponents every game of the year, eventually they will have to prove they can stop a team and they have not done that yet.

He’s Yet to Play an Elite Defense

The closest thing to a good defense Baylor has faced is TCU and they have seriously underwhelmed this season. They have not given up more than 20 points after giving up 50 to Baylor but their competition has not been very good in Air Force, Louisiana-Monroe and Portland State.

His first real test will be against Texas A&M but it won’t be the only one in the Big 12.
