Predicting LSU's Remaining Games with Jordan Jefferson Back at Quarterback

Randy ChambersSep 29, 2011

The LSU Tigers have been through a lot during the offseason, but the Jordan Jefferson case didn't turn out as bad as it could have. Jefferson and linebacker Josh Johns have had their charges reduced and are reinstated back onto the football team after a bar fight a little over a month ago.

The Tigers are undefeated and are currently the No. 1 team in the country. Quarterback Jarrett Lee has filled in the role for Jefferson quite nicely. But let's assume that Jefferson gets his starting job back from day one.

Here are the predictions for the remaining LSU games with Jefferson back at starting quarterback.

Oct. 1 vs Kentucky

1 of 9

I know the Tigers lost to the Wildcats in 2007, but this game won't matter who the starting quarterback is. LSU has one of the top defenses in the country, while Kentucky has one of the worst offenses in the country.

Drew Alleman kicks a couple field goals, and that should be enough to win this game for LSU.

LSU wins: 34-10

Oct. 8 vs Florida

2 of 9

This should be a great game as both teams play great defense, but Florida does have an offense with more playmakers. This game should be close, but looking at the Gators schedule is key for my prediction in this game. Coming off a game against Alabama and then traveling to Baton Rouge is unfair. Florida must have lost a bet.

I'll take the Tigers winning barely.

LSU wins: 21-17

Oct. 15 at Tennessee

3 of 9

The Volunteers are about as one-dimensional as you can get. They are horrible at running the ball but great at throwing the ball, and even that may suffer with the injury to wide receiver Justin Hunter. This game will be all about defense for LSU, as you can't be one-dimensional against a fantastic defense.

It makes everything that much harder for the offense.

LSU wins: 28-13

Oct. 22 vs Auburn

4 of 9

Auburn may not be the same team they were a year ago, but this team is still talented. They will score and have the weapon to keep this defense honest in Michael Dyer. But there is one major flaw in this Auburn team, and that is the defense. Particularly in stopping the run.

Not good when you're going up against a team that has a two-headed monster in Spencer Ware and Michael Ford.

LSU wins: 31-24

Nov. 5 at Alabama

5 of 9

Oh boy this is going to be a matchup for the ages, especially if both teams go into this game undefeated. I hope you like defense because you're going to see a ton of it in this bloodbath. Both teams are very similar, so, I'll just flip a coin.

It landed on the home team.

Alabama wins: 14-10

Nov. 12 vs Western Kentucky

6 of 9

Does this game even need an explanation? This Western Kentucky team can't do anything right on either side of the ball and even lost to Indiana State. LSU rolls in this one.

LSU wins: 45-7

Nov. 19 at Ole Miss

7 of 9

If things keep going the way they're going for the Rebels, head coach Houston Nutt will be fired. Don't expect the high scoring you saw last year in this matchup. That LSU defense is much better and that Ole Miss offense is Charles Barkley terrible.

LSU wins: 24-10

Nov. 25 vs Arkansas

8 of 9

Looking at this game it should be fantastic. The Tigers have a top defense, while the Razorbacks have one of the most high powered offenses, averaging 38 points per game. Something has to give because these two teams match up great.

Wait. Haven't we heard this before?

Just last week Arkansas played a solid defensive team in Alabama and struggled to move the ball at all. Seeing that, I'll go with LSU who may even have a better defense than Alabama does.

LSU wins: 26-17

Conclusion

9 of 9

It really doesn't matter who is the starting quarterback for this team. Neither are really asked to do much for this team. The Tigers rely on their defense and running game to win games, and that won't change any time soon.

The quarterback in this system is more of a game manager than a game changer.
