Hope Solo Dancing with the Stars: Despite Rough Week, Solo Still Favorite

With a warm smile and stunning outfit, Hope Solo took to the stage and delivered what could best be described as awkward with a scoop of beautiful.

The fact that I and every other Dancing with the Stars fan continues to be captivated illustrates a fine point, Hope Solo can't lose. 

Like pizza, beer and that thing married people do in the privacy of their own homes, even when she is bad she is better than nothing. 

On Monday, the belle of the ball and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy took on the jive, and passed,barely. The judges were not as impressed as the crowd that howled anytime Solo shook her body during the routine. 

When all was said and done, team Solo received a 19 out of 30, not bad, but hardly spectacular. Again, that is fine for the star that is on everyone's mind when they flip on the television to watch another episode of DWTS. 

The dance was everything you would expect from a soccer star turned dancer. The steps were a little out of rhythm. Solo herself seemed to get lost a few times during the routine. 

I would have been fearful for another star heading into Tuesday's elimination episode, but not Solo. Sitting there watching her misstep and plod along to an awkward jive, I could only think of one thing. This is entertainment. 

We always hear about this elusive it quality that some stars have. That quality transcends Hollywood and lands into the sports world as well. 

It is that reason that we love Derek Jeter but feel sick when Alex Rodriguez is mentioned. It's why Brian Urlacher gets love and Jay Cutler gets shunned. 

It's just easier to root for some people. Hope Solo is easy to root for, and so we do. A show that demands a star dance with some modicum of success and command the attention of a nation was built for a woman like Solo. 

Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars already has its winner, and that's Hope Solo.
