Auburn Tigers Football: Why Auburn Fans Shouldn't Give up on Tigers Yet
Let's start by stating the obvious. The current 2011 Auburn Tiger football team is not the 2010 National Champion Auburn football team. Every Auburn fan has heard this from every opposing team's fan since the season's beginning. As an Auburn fan, I can say that I do not know any Auburn fan that is trying to live on last year's accomplishments. The 2011 season has not shown Auburn dominate as it did back in 2010 but there is no reason for Auburn fans to listen to the doomsayers either. Here are four reasons why Auburn fans shouldn't give up on the 2011 season...
4.) Micheal Dyer's Legs
1 of 4Micheal Dyer is one of the top three running backs in the SEC. His combination of speed and power make him one broken tackle away from a touchdown every time he touches the ball. Auburn will begin to use Dyer more and more as the season drags on. I see him beginning to sustain long drives and wear down opposing defenses.
3)The Defense Will Improve
2 of 4This defense is young and has been horrible at best so far this year, but I did see much better tackling during the FAU game. Coach Chizik will continue to get more involved as the season progresses and I believe you will see the defense improve. I do not think they will finish in the top ten in defenses, but I do not think they will finish in the hundreds either. Each week brings more experience and motivation to play better.
2)Their Record Is 3-1
3 of 4Even though Auburn fans may feel like they are 1-3 or 2-2, the fact is that this Auburn team has still found ways to win and are currently 3-1. Its only loss was on road to an impressive Clemson team that looks to be the best Clemson team in a decade and Auburn had a double digit lead on them twice. From the coaching staff to the young team, everyone thinks they can win every week in the SEC.
1)The Coaching Staff
4 of 4The coaching staff is almost completely intact from last year's team and they realize how to use their talent to the best of their abilities. I believe that Auburn has not shown much of its offensive playbook yet. They will also continue different schemes on defense to try to simplify the game so athletes can simply line up and play. The coaching staff are proven winners and will continue to push for perfection.
