College Football Rankings: 3 Teams with Talent to Contend for No. 1
LSU and Oklahoma flipped spots atop this week's AP poll. Both of these teams are deserving of the honor, but they aren't the only two. The following three teams have the talent to hang with these guys, and on any given Saturday, they could beat them.
No. 4 Boise State
We all know about Boise State's offense. It is both dynamic and efficient. Kellen Moore is as good as any QB in the nation.
He leads a passing attack that is putting up the eighth most yards per game in the nation. This offense is a well-oiled machine that can score on anyone.
What isn't as well documented is their defense. This is a stout and talented defense that is solid on all levels.
This is a well balanced team that looks poised to roll through their season undefeated.
No. 5 Oklahoma State
The Cowboys' passing attack can beat any defense in the nation. As they showed against Texas A&M last week, they can score points in bunches, and this means they are never out of a contest.
Oklahoma State is second in the nation with 415 passing yards per game.
Their schedule also sets up nicely for them to roll into their regular season finale with No. 2 Oklahoma undefeated.
No. 7 Wisconsin
Wisconsin has the talent to dominate in the trenches, and when you can do that, you can beat anyone.
They use their excellent offensive line to help them craft a balanced offensive attack. They are 26th in passing yard and 13th in rushing yards. This has led to them being sixth in points scored.
Their beastly defensive line has led them to a third ranking in points allowed.
This team is good enough to earn No. 1 votes. They just have yet to beat a high profile team. That will change next week when they dismantle No. 8 Nebraska, and the No. 1 votes will follow.
