College Football Rankings: Biggest Roadblocks between LSU and BCS Championship
The LSU Tigers are on track to play in this years BCS title game, but there are three hurdles—three games for the purpose of this article— they must overcome before they can play for it all in January.
Here are the three games the Tigers will face their biggest challenge in their pursuit for a BCS championship bid.
October 8th vs. Florida
1 of 3LSU's game in two weeks against the No. 12 Florida Gators will be the first of three hurdles LSU wil have to clear.
The Gators and Tigers match up well, with both teams being among the top scoring offenses, and defenses in college football.
It will come down to quarterback play, pitting Florida's John Brantley and LSU's Jarrett Lee in a head-to-head battle, that will ultimately decide who wins the crucial game.
November 3rd at Alabama
2 of 3In what is the biggest hurdle for the LSU Tigers to clear to make the BCS title game this season is their November 3rd matchup with current No. 3 ranked Alabama.
Alabama holds teams to eight points a game, which is good enough for third in the nation, and can give LSU troubles on both sides of the ball.
Holding Alabama running back Trent Richardson to a modest game will also be a game changer/breaker for LSU, ad Richardson already has 441 yards and eight big touchdowns this year.
LSU will have to play a mistake-free game, and be firing at all cylinders to take down Alabama in November.
November 25th vs. Arkansas
3 of 3The last major hurdle for the LSU team, and their BCS title game hopes comes in their regular season finale against the currently ranked No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks.
LSU will be tested for a quarter or two, but should be able to pull away before the fourth quarter rolls around and not give too many Tigers fans a scare before the regular season comes to an end.
With the Razorbacks not having much of a running game, LSU should be able to contain the Arkansas offense as LSU has been successful defending the pass this season.
In all, if LSU plays like they should they should come away with a big victory, almost guaranteeing a BCS title game berth.
