College Football Rankings: The 5 Worst Teams in the Top 25

So your team is ranked in the Top 25 and hey that's great. But that doesn't mean that your team is really that good. Teams get ranked all the time in the Top 25 that aren't as good as their rankings.

Don't believe me, just take a look at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who started this year in the Top 25, but lost their first two games this year. 

Here in this list, we will take a look at the teams that are the worst in the current Top 25. 

5. West Virginia

Currently their ranked 16th in the USA Today Coaches and the Associated Press polls. However, after last night's loss to the No. 2 ranked LSU, they should be falling in these polls.

Are they a bad team in these polls? No, they just ran into one of the best teams in College Football.

But, this loss puts them as the second best team in the Big East conference.  

4. Florida State

It's amazing how a team goes from in the Top Five just two weeks ago to almost off of the rankings all together. 

Two losses in a row makes this Florida State team one of the worst here in the polls. They had a chance to rebound against Clemson last week, but couldn't stop the Tigers offense. 

They have a lot of questions now on defense since Clemson scored 35 on them, to go along with the questions they have on offense with the injury to EJ Manuel. 

3. Texas

It's unfair to group the Longhorns in this list of the worst teams in the Top 25. But Texas has only had one dominant victory out of their three total wins this year. 

They're a team that is basing their entire offense around a freshman, running back Malcolm Brown, and two inexperienced sophomores, quarterback Case McCoy and wide receiver Mike Davis.

They need a big win next week when they start the Big 12 portion of their schedule to get the naysayers off their longhorns.  

2. USC

They were the only team last week that started the week in the Top 25 but lost. They were upset on the road against an unranked Arizona State team. 

The defense that was able to shut down non-conference opponents to start the season was scored on in bunches last night. The offense also struggled to find the end zone in every quarter, except for the third.

When the polls are released today, you will not see the Trojans in them. 

1. Illinois

The worst team in the Top 25 is the Illinois Fighting Illini. Yes, they're 4-0 on the year. Yes, they're tied for first in the Big Ten. Yes, they have a win against Arizona State. 

But, in those four wins this year, they have only blown out one team. That was in Week 2 against South Dakota State. 

Yesterday, they had to survive against Western Michigan by winning 23-20. 

Let's see how they survive when they open the Big Ten conference play against Northwestern this week.
