College Football Uniforms: Power Ranking Week 4's Best
The latest trend in college football is wearing a variety of different uniforms when a team takes the field.
As this trend expands more and more teams have taken up the practice of wearing a different variation of their uniform.
Call me old fashioned, but instead of ranking the newest, flashiest, latest piece of eye sore to hit the market, I am going to rank the best classic uniforms for Week 4.
No. 4 Penn State
1 of 5Why mess with a classic?
The Penn State uniform is anything but flashy, but it’s a symbol of college football. The plain colors pale in comparison to the flash of Boise State and Oregon, but it’s one of the most recognizable uniforms on the planet.
Penn State checks in at No. 4, although I would love to be in the meeting with Coach Paterno when they suggest Penn State get a flashier uniform.
No. 3 Michigan Wolverines
2 of 5The Wolverines have a very flashy uniform. Not in terms of today’s look, but back in the day this uniform was pushing the limits. Sure they went retro for the game under the lights and have a “combat” uniform (don’t get me started) so maybe they should have been excluded, but they will make the cut.
It still deserves a tip of the cap as a classic that never goes out of style but will subtly change every year.
No. 2 Notre Dame
3 of 5The Fighting Irish are getting close to getting cut from this exclusive list.
They are as marketable as any team in the country and I am sure it won’t be long before they are sporting neon green, but as long as they have the good old fashioned golden domes, they make the list.
Once Notre Dame changes their uniform, Navy will be ready to step in and join the list.
No. 1 Alabama
4 of 5This is another team not exempt from the Nike Combat uniforms, but they still hold onto the nostalgic look that embodies Alabama football.
Whatever you do Alabama, just don’t change the helmets. The number on the side screams yesteryear and is a mainstay in Crimson Tide football.
Retro
5 of 5In this day and age, new uniforms appeal to the new generation. It is good for the game and fun to look at but for me, tradition is what college football is all about.
Sometimes flashy is not always better.
