Stoke City vs. Manchester United: Red Devils Ready to Prove Dominance on Road

Richard LangfordSep 24, 2011

Few teams roll into Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke City and leave with a victory. The Red Devils are going to do just that. And when they do notch a victory, they will be just the second team to do so in the last 17 home matches for Stoke.

Stoke City has been uneven this year away from home, but they have been sterling at the friendly confines of Britannia. They have yet to lose in five home matches this Premier League campaign—their five matches have come against Hajduk Split, Chelsea, Liverpool, FC Thun and Tottenham.

That is a solid list of victims. They would like nothing better than to add the Red Devils to that list.

That is just not going to happen, though. Man U has looked unbeatable this season. They are 5-0 in Premier League play, and they have done it all convincingly.

They are coming off of a 3-1 win over Chelsea, and that may have been their worst performance of the season. Man U took a 3-0 lead into halftime of that match and then played a sloppy second half and still won 3-1. Keep in mind that, by most accounts, Chelsea is the second best team in the league.

Man U is playing as good, and probably better, than they have in years. And that is no easy task. They are the defending champions after all.

While Stoke has been dominant at home, that has not extended to matches with the Red Devils. Man U has won three straight matches as the away team against Stoke. And Stoke City has not beaten the Devils in League play on any pitch since 1984.

That streak is going to continue. Man U will win 2-1.
